ALERT: Save MedMJ in Missouri

Dear Friends:I regret the late notice of this event, but I want you to know that a group of medical marijuana patients and their supporters will be traveling to the Missouri State Capitol tomorrow, Wednesday, March 5 to meet at noon at the cannon on the first floor of the Missouri State Capitol, near the center of the Capitol rotunda. We will gather there and, sometime between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m., go the office of House Speaker Rod Jetton, room #308 to urge him to give our medical marijuana bill, HB 1830, an assignment to a committee. After that, beginning at approximately 1:30 p.m., we will hold a press conference back on the first floor in the Capitol rotunda.

Following that, we will be gathering in the center of the first floor rotunda for a press conference in support of the medical marijuana legislation and pointing out that Speaker Jetton is single-handedly stopping this bill from having a chance to be heard.

Our group will then go to the individual offices of state legislators and urge them to also support HB 1830.

We may hold another such event later in the session. If so, we will do our best to get you earlier notice.

Even if you cannot be with us on Wednesday, please call your Missouri State Representative and Senator and urge them to support medical marijuana. If you do not know who those people are, you may find that and a great deal of other information about legislation by going to http://house.mo.gov and http://senate.mo.gov or by going to: http://capwiz.com/norml2/issues/alert/?alertid=10942916

If you want to meet with your legislators in person, they are normally back in their districts near you on Thursday afternoon and all day Friday as well as on the weekends. Most legislators welcome contact from constituents at any time, so do not be shy about calling or writing to them.

Thank you for your efforts in support of NORML and marijuana law reform.

Sincerely,
Dan Viets
