Monday April 20th, 2009 was a huge success. We had a 150 people who braved the heat and many patients who braved serious illnesses to march in solidarity for sensible marijuana policies. There were chronic pain patients who insisted in walking unaided in order to show their resolve and the commitment to the cause. I applaud everyone for making the day memorable in the minds of Tucsonans.
The media coverage was tremendous. Bud Foster and the KOLD channel 13 team interviewed AZ4NORML leadership and Safe Access Arizona patients throughout the day. KGUN 9 TV also followed the marchers and interviewed several medical marijuana patients. If you missed any media coverage, we will bring it to the next AZ4NORML meeting on May 16th for all to enjoy. Fabric banners belonging to AZ4NORML were handed out but were not returned. We need these banners for the upcoming march in Phoenix Arizona on May 02nd. Please call us right away if you have a banner or sign. These banners cost our chapter over $400 and must be returned. We rely entirely on donations and do not have extra money to replace them. Please call your fellow marchers and help us track them down.
AZ4NORML has several upcoming events and I hope you will all choose to visit us at one of them. If you are interested in volunteering for any functions, please let us know right away.
Upcoming Events:
Saturday April 25th
KFMA Day featuring KORN at Tucson Electric Park from 11AM – 11PM – AZ4NORML will be hosting a 10×10 booth. We may have a few volunteer slots left – let me know right away. KFMA has sold 15,000 tickets and this is assured to be a great event.
Comedian Doug Benson at the Rialto Theatre. 7PM doors and 8PM show time. We have our volunteers. We have two tickets (face value $42) that are being donated to AZ4NORML. The first $20 takes both of them. Come join us with this very funny guy from the movie “Super High me”
Sunday April 26th
Indigenous with the Plateros will be playing at the Rialto Theatre. Doors at 7PM show at 8PM. Contact me ASAP if you are interested in volunteer to host our table at this show. Admission is free for volunteers.
Saturday May 02nd
AZ4NORML will be travelling to Phoenix to support Phoenix NORML and their participation in the Global Marijuana March. The AZ4NORML party bus is full! If you are interested in driving, please let us know.
The Tucson Folk Festival is this weekend. Please reply to this email if you are interested in volunteering for the booth on either May 02nd and/or May 03rd. It will be a lot of fun. *pending approval.
