HB 4715, the bill to ALLOW citations instead of arrest for misdemeanor cannabis possession charges will be brought up in the House Judiciary II Committee on Criminal Law at their 8AM meeting Thursday March 13. The bills sponsor State Rep. Constance Howard is on the committee along with two State Reps. who voted against HB 1864 last year. There is also Rep. Howard’s bill for 911 Good Samaritans at that same hearing. The Democrats slightly control that committee 7-6 so hopefully we can get those through.
SB 2865 will have another hearing in the Senate Public Health Committee meeting at 10:30AM on Thursday March 13. At the end of the last hearing it was mentioned that some details between Cullerton and a few other Senators would be worked out and I am assuming that is what this next hearing will be focused on.
The deadline for House bills to be out of committee is Friday March 14 and for Senate Bills it is March 13.

I am the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" for my work producing Oregon NORML's TV show, "A Cannabis Community Forum", and for helping to institute Portland's wildly successful medical marijuana cardholders meetings, where we help sick and disabled Oregonians acquire cannabis plant starts, learn gardening, and understand the medical marijuana law. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to be our daily voice.
