CA Legislature Considers New Rules on DUID
Liberty Lobby
Ryan Davidson
Ryan fought a state supreme court battle last year and won an interesting precedent that allows ID voters to enact cannabis liberalization venue if the local laws are different than other state or federal laws. Ryan ran the campaign in Hailey, ID that saw three local marijuana reform ballot initiatives pass last week.
Paul Armentano
NORML Senior Policy Analyst
Paul testified before a CA Assembly subcommittee last week on proposed changes to the state's DUID laws. California would like to change the detection thresholds for drugs and hand our more DUID convictions. As Paul explains, such laws make little legal or scientific sense as the new detection guidelines would have nothing to do with actual impairment. Paul discusses the law and describes the experience of testifying in this forum.
