It’s Monday, May 12th, and it’s 4:20 somewhere in the world. I’m your host, “Radical” Russ Belville.

Don’t forget to your Congress at 202-224-3121, and tell your representative to support Barney Frank’s HR5843 bill that would legalize marijuana for personal use. Ending prohibition starts with you!

For our Political Activism day today we’re heading on down to California to speak with Dale Geiringer, the Executive Director of California NORML. Dale’s got some updates on an upcoming vote to restrict marijuana growing in Mendocino county and the status of a bill to protect medical marijuana patients in the workplace.

For our musical break today I’m giving Cannabis Karri a break because today is my youngest brother’s 25th birthday. So today Josh Belville, my non-cannabis smoking little brother, is our featured artist and I’m playing the song he wrote because of a specific request from me, his pothead oldest brother, for a groovy tune about weed smoking. Josh comes through for all of us with a dance song called “Get Stoned Together.”

To conclude our Stash we go across the continent to Rhode Island to speak with Jesse Stout from the Rhode Island Patients Advocacy Coalition. Jesse’s got updates on the twin bills in the House and Senate that would legalize medical marijuana dispensaries in the state.

And remember, if you are a business or non-profit who’d like your message heard on the Daily Audio Stash or the NORML Weekly News, you can advertise with us. We have rates for every budget and a 10% discount for non-profits. You can target your message to the focused audience of enlightened cannabis consumers you’re looking for. With over 28,000 daily downloads and hundreds of thousands of embedded players on websites worldwide, advertising with NORML is the most effective way of reaching your potential customers. Just send us an email at stash ‘at’ norml.org and we’ll have you on the air in no time.

So sit back and relax with a good friend and your favorite strain, it’s time for your NORML Daily Audio Stash.

It’s Friday, May 9th and it’s 4:20 somewhere in the world! I’m your host, “Radical” Russ Belville and this is your NORML Daily Audio Stash.

Today we have an extra-special Stash for you. On Wednesday the warehouse of Spectrum Labs in Cincinnati, Ohio, was raided by federal agents – it’s our top story in our upcoming Hemp Headlines. We’ve got an interview with the owner of Spectrum Labs, Matt Stevens, who’s here to tell us about the harrowing SWAT-style raid on this purveyor of drug testing and detoxification equipment.

What’s driving the raids seems to be a personal vendetta against Tommy Chong by the US Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Mary Beth Buchanan. I’m thrilled to tell you that Tommy Chong will be joining us to tell how the Spectrum bust is all about sending a message to him regarding the DVD the Spectrum had stored in its warehouse, a/k/a Tommy Chong, the documentary about Mary Beth Buchanan’s crusade to bust and incarcerate Tommy for internet bong sales back in 2003.

For our musical break we’re pleased to bring you music from my new friend in Tennessee, Chief Greenbud. We played a live acoustic version of this song, The Legalization Song, earlier this week. Now the Chief is back with the full studio version for your enjoyment today.

Then we wrap things up with Josh Gilbert, the director/producer/writer of the a/k/a Tommy Chong DVD, telling his side of the story about the Spectrum raids and his documentary, followed by the conclusion of our two-part interview with Tommy Chong.

Finally, don’t forget that every Saturday we’re now posting the NORML Weekend Music Stash, where you can get all of the last ten songs from our daily musical breaks in one podcast, suitable for your weekend party pleasure. If you have a band that would like to be featured on our podcast, please send us an email at stash ‘at’ norml.org.

So sit back and relax with some Labrador and enjoy your NORML Daily Audio Stash…

[Update: Whoops! The three interviews today put me under the gun and I made a couple of mistakes! Small editing gaffe in one of the stories, no big deal, but I programmed the wrong song by Chief Greenbud. You heard “Without Weed”, which is a good song, too. My apologies.]

It’s Wednesday, May 7th and it’s 4:20 somewhere in the world. I’m your host, “Radical” Russ Belville.

Don’t forget to call your Congress and tell them to support HR5842 & HR5843 to end DEA raids in medical marijuana states and to legalize personal possession of marijuana. The number is 202-224-3121.

If you have a product that you would like to market to the cannabis community, you can advertise on the Daily Audio Stash. Your ad will be focused on exactly the customer base you’re seeking out; the thousands of responsible cannabis consumers who download and listen to this show. Our listeners are educated consumers who want to support the businesses that support the growing truth about cannabis, and we deliver the advertising freedom you won’t find on radio, TV, or print ads. To advertise on the Daily Audio Stash, send us an email at stash @ norml.org.

Wednesday is Cannabis Science day on the Stash, and coming up after the news, we’re separating the stems of propaganda from the buds of truth with Dr. Mitch Earleywine. Today Dr. Mitch and I discuss yet another attempt to falsely link marijuana to aggression. Seriously, do these scaremongers even know any potheads?

Cannabis Karri brings us our musical break this hempday humpday with a New York group called Mudville and their simply-named song, “Stoned”.

And I wrap things up with another listen to the Global Marijuana March from this weekend from all around the country. Today we’re headed to Philadelphia with Ken Wolski of the Coalition for Medical Marijuana in New Jersey, Josh Schimberg down in Austin with Texas NORML, and back east to New York City with Rob Robinson of NY NORML. It really is about the grassroots, people, and your local NORML chapter is the place to start ending adult marijuana prohibition.

Speaking of local activism, I want to feature the best from the marijuana marches this weekend. So we’re starting another “Pass the Stash” contest where you could win a DVD from Suburban Noize Records’ rappers Kingspade. Stay tuned for details later in the podcast.

Welcome to the show, load up your Wesley Pipes and sit back with your favorite strain… This is your NORML Daily Audio Stash.

It’s Tuesday, May 6th and it’s 4:20 somewhere in the world. I’m your host, “Radical” Russ Belville.

We here at NORML would like to remind you to get involved in the cannabis civil rights movement and join us here at NORML – you can learn everything you need to know at NORML.org. Make a donation, write a letter, attend a rally, march for your rights – it all starts with you. Call your Congress at 202-224-3121 – they’ll ask your zip code and put you in touch with your elected officials. Tell them to support HR5842 and HR5843 to end DEA raids in medical marijuana states and legalize personal possession of pot. It still is a government of We the People, but you have to step up and do your part.

Tuesday is Government at Work day on the podcast, and coming up after the news, we’re going to speak with D. Paul Stanford, executive director of The Hemp & Cannabis Foundation’s chain of medical marijuana clinics in six Western states. Paul has some excellent news about the defeat of a plan to repeal Oregon’s highly-successful self-funded medical marijuana program and the launch of the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act for 2010.

After that Cannabis Karri brings us the secret agent of the counterculture, the Undercover Hippy. His new album, “They Feed on Greed” features an instant cannabis classic called “Too Stoned” that we’re playing for you today.

We’ll wrap up today with another look at the Global Marijuana March this last weekend with two activists straight from the heartland. We’ve got James Getman from Iowa NORML and Steven Eisenhauer from SW Indiana NORML here to give us a review of their events and their take on the chances for cannabis reform in the Midwest.

So sit back and relax with your favorite strain – this is the Daily Audio Stash.

Es lunes, Cinco de mayo y es cuatro veinte en alguna parte en el mundo. Soy su anfitrión, “Radical” Russ Belville.

This weekend was the kickoff to the summer protestival season. I hope you all enjoyed your Global Marijuana March and took the opportunity to use your freedom of speech, freedom assembly, and freedom to petition your government. But that’s only the beginning, because ending adult marijuana prohibition starts with you. Call your Congress at 202-224-3121, and tell your representative to support Barney Frank’s HR5843 bill that would legalize marijuana for personal use.

For our Political Activism day today I’m bringing you my report from Portland, Oregon’s ninth annual Million Marijuana March, held in the center of downtown at Pioneer Courthouse Square. I’m also calling on all local activists to send me your audio, video, and pictures from your March, so we can share your experience with the global cannabis community.

We’ve got just a few news stories and your Weekly Legislative Roundup, then right after the news we’ll take a look at our Reformer’s Calendar.

Next I’ve got exclusive audio from our Portland event. Friday night we held a party for Oregon NORML’s Board of Directors, PonyBoy, Fuzzy, and SK from Los Marijuanos out of Las Vegas, DJ Selekta Lou from Sacramento, and Chief Greenbud who flew out from Nashville, Tennessee. I’ll take you inside NORML West Coast Media HQ for an impromptu interview. Then you’ll hear speeches from the event by our Executive Director Madeline Martinez, Board Member Melodie Silverwolf, and Co-Founder Anna Diaz.

For our musical break on this Blues Monday, Cannabis Karri brings us a bluesman from my neck of the woods, just south in Salem, Oregon. Mark Lemhouse performs “You Can’t Get That Stuff No More”, something I’m sure we’ve all said a time or two when searching for our favorite prohibited strain.

To conclude our Stash I’ve got an extra-special musical treat as Chief Greenbud joined us on the local cable access show I host in Portland called “A Cannabis Community Forum”. Chief performed two songs live for our show, and you’ll get to hear his parody of the Plain White T’s hit, “Hey There, Delilah” that he has re-written as “It’s Only a Weed”, a tragic tale of an average cannabis arrest, and an original number called “The Legalization Song”.

It’s Friday, May 2nd and it’s 4:20 somewhere in the world! I’m your host, “Radical” Russ Belville and this is your NORML Daily Audio Stash.

Tomorrow is the Global Marijuana March, taking place in over 200 cities worldwide. Check out GlobalMarijuanaMarch.org for more details on the march in your area. Take to the streets and demand respect. We are not criminals, we are cannabis consumers. We are no more criminals for smoking pot in private than citizens who take a drink in private. We can end adult marijuana prohibition, but the world needs to see us standing up for our rights! It starts with you – take the time to get involved.

Friday is Cannabis Community day on the Stash, and coming up after the news, we’re speaking with our regular guest Steve Bloom, the webmaster at CelebStoner.com. Steve’s got the details for New York City’s Marijuana March, along with a New York native’s look at how the Big Apple became the marijuana arrest capital of the world. We also break down the role of weed in the NFL draft and great box-office weekends for Harold & Kumar and CelebStoner Amy Poehler’s movie, Baby Mama.

Next, Cannabis Karri brings back Freedom People with a perfect song for a protest weekend, “New (R)evolution”. Let’s all start a new revolution and get hemp re-legalized in this country.

Then we wrap things up with Tim Smith, a criminal defense attorney in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tim’s here to tell us about the Marijuana March event this weekend in Cincy and the threats by law enforcement to shut them down by threatening the venue owner’s liquor license.

So sit back and relax with your favorite strain and enjoy your NORML Daily Audio Stash…

Portland\'s Million Marijuana MarchFinally today, a personal note. This year’s Global Marijuana March marks the third year of my involvement with NORML through my local chapter, Oregon NORML.

We want to invite everyone in the Portland / Vancouver area to enjoy the huge festivities we have planned. We have Pioneer Courthouse Square reserved in the heart of Downtown Portland for the entire day. Vendors and bands will begin at 10am.

Then we leave for the march at High Noon, led by Ma, our Cannabis Dragon – a forty-foot-long hemp-cloth dragon like you might see at a Chinese New Year, with a four-foot head made completely from cannabis stalks.

Los Marijuanos After Party in PortlandWe return to the Square for more of the festival, with special guest speakers, including myself, educating the public about marijuana in-between band sets.

We’re kicking off our PR campaign for OCTA 2010, the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act, an initiative for 2010 that will legalize, tax, and regulate the sales of cannabis in Oregon through state-run liquor stores.

The outdoor festival ends at 5pm, but then we’re off to the Mt. Tabor Legacy Theater at SE 39th & Hawthorne at 8pm to enjoy the Marijuana March After Party, a concert featuring The Martyrs and Marquee, with special guest Chief Greenbud and our headliners, Las Vegas hemp-hop superstars, Los Marijuanos.

Then the after after party is at my place, I suppose, since the DJ, his girlfriend, a visiting Sacramento NORML board member, and two vendors are crashing there for the weekend. Ah, you know what? I have the greatest job in the world.

It’s Thursday, May 1st and it’s 4:20 somewhere in the world. I’m your host, “Radical” Russ Belville and this is your NORML Daily Audio Stash.

Today is May Day, also known as International Worker’s Day. We call on labor organizations worldwide to stand up for worker’s privacy and beat back the scourge of suspicion-less and pre-employment drug testing of workers. Drug testing without probable cause essentially means that you’re assumed to be guilty of a crime until you can prove yourself innocent. It means that while the government is constitutionally restricted from unreasonable searches of your person without warrant, your employer may treat you like property. Workers of the world – unite!

Today on the Daily Audio Stash we’re speaking with Rick Doblin from the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, or MAPS. We’ll be discussing the life and legacy of Albert Hofmann, the father of LSD, who passed away at age 102 this week.

Cannabis Karri is back with some more fantastic reggae. This time we’ve got Carlton Livingston and his song, “100lb Collie Weed”. I ‘n’ I love dis track, mon. Irie!

Then we’ll speak with Nicholas Van Dam, a doctoral candidate in psychology at State University of New York. Nicholas has just published a paper in the journal Human Psychopharmacology examining the studies of cannabis and schizotypal syndromes and how those studies are misrepresenting cannabis’ role by ignoring the use of other drugs.

We’ve got a lot to cover, so sit back and relax with a tasty beverage and your favorite strain and enjoy your NORML Daily Audio Stash…

We’re upgrading the studios here at NORML’s West Coast Media Headquarters, so I want to thank everyone for their patience and apologize for not delivering your Daily Stash for Monday and your Weekend Stash from Saturday. Bluntman even wrote in to say, “I can’t sleep without my Stash!” I hope that’s a compliment and not an indication that my voice puts people to sleep!

Never fear, Bluntman and the rest of you Stashers, the new computer and sound system are now working. You will not get a crisper-sounding Stash and I will be able to process it much faster and easier. (And yes, you Mac devotees, it’s a PC and it’s Vista. When our ad revenue allows us to buy computers that are twice as expensive, we’ll switch to a Mac.)

Tuesday is our Government at Work day here on the Stash. Joining us after the news is Kris Krane, the Executive Director of Students for Sensible Drug Policy. Kris is here to promote a new video that asks why kids who are caught with a joint can’t get government money to go to school, but can get plenty of government money to go to war.

Cannabis Karri has surfed through the waves of podsafe music to bring us the Sunshine Variety Club, with a song they call “Green-Bong Mix”

And we conclude our podcast with Madeline Martinez, the Executive Director of Oregon NORML, who is here to promote this Saturday’s Global Marijuana March, taking place in over 200 cities nationwide, including Portland, Oregon, where marijuana activists are taking over the downtown square for an entire day of cannabis crusading.

So sit back and relax with a good friend and a tasty strain, this is your NORML Daily Audio Stash.

Friday is Cannabis Community day on the Stash, and coming up after the news, we’re speaking with our regular guest Steve Bloom, the webmaster at CelebStoner.com. Steve was out on the road this week in Colorado autographing copies of his latest book, Pot Culture, The A to Z Guide to Stoner Language and Life. We’ll get his report on the nation’s largest 4/20 smoke-in at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Next, Cannabis Karri brings us a group called Supersuckers for our musical break today. This Seattle band by way of Tucson sings a song called “Can Pipe”, something we’ve all constructed in those desperate days when pipes and papers aren’t available.

We wrap things up today with some more cannabis comedy from the new movie “Totally Baked”. The sketch is a typical cable news talking heads show where our sincere marijuana law reformer is attacked on all sides by the host and guests. You can get your copy of the DVD at totallybakedmovie.com. 10% of the proceeds benefit NORML, and you can get a 25% discount by entering HIGH as the promo code online.

Just call 202-224-3121, they’ll ask for your zip code and put you in touch with your federal representative.

Today on the Daily Audio Stash we visit with NORML Executive Director Allen St. Pierre and a look at the success by a right-wing anti-drug group to fight hemp products at your local Wal-Mart.

Cannabis Karri brings us some dancehall for our musical break today, featuring a Canadian DJ called Kid Fareigna and a song called “Light Up”.

Then we’ll speak Brad Ernst from Texas NORML. He’s got some information for Austin-area residents of the Lone Star State regarding next week’s upcoming Global Marijuana March in May.

We hope you enjoyed the Special 4/20 Music Stash. In case you missed it, I put together eighteen of the best tokin’ tunes from the past ten weeks! It’s a CD-length party Stash with a continuous and eclectic mix of marijuana music, unbroken by commercials.

As usual on Monday here on the Stash, it’s Political Activism day, so we’ve got our Reformer’s Calendar right after the news.

A big day of activism is planned for New Hampshire, where their senate will be hearing testimony on marijuana decriminalization. We spoke with Matt Simon from the New Hampshire Coalition for Common Sense Marijuana Policy for the details.

For our musical break on this Blues Monday, Cannabis Karri brings us a French-born bluesman named Jacques Grant and a happy little tune called “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”. Wait a minute. Happy blues from a French dude? Now I’ve heard everything.

To conclude our Stash today we trek out to my birthplace of Boise, Idaho. I spoke with Cameron Rose with Committed Americans for Marijuana, who is leading the organization of The City of Trees’ participation in the Million Marijuana March on May 3.

Friday is Cannabis Community day on the Stash, and coming up after the news, we’re speaking with our regular guest Steve Bloom, the webmaster at CelebStoner.com. Steve is a former editor at High Times Magazine who helped uncover the origins of the whole “420″ subculture. (No, it’s not the California police code for marijuana smoking in progress and it’s not how many chemicals are in cannabis.) If you’re listening in Colorado, Steve will be at a Cheeba Hut store near you, autographing copies of his latest book, Pot Culture, The A to Z Guide to Stoner Language and Life.

Next, Cannabis Karri brings us an old favorite of the Stash, just perfectly timed for 4/20. It’s Suburban Noize Records recording artists Kottonmouth Kings, and we’re thrilled to play “Super Duper High”, from their new CD/DVD set, The Kottonmouth Xperience Vol. II: Kosmic Therapy.

We wrap things up today with NORML’s Founder and Legal Counsel Keith Stroup discussing Barney Frank’s groundbreaking new bill to end the prosecution at the federal level of adults who use cannabis responsibly.

Today Dr. Mitch and I discuss the lead contamination found in some German marijuana and the insane idea of treating marijuana “addiction” with lithium.

Cannabis Karri brings us our musical break this hempday humpday with an Asian rapper named Khmer Kid. Based in Los Angeles, Khmer Kid’s anthem “Smoke Weed” will bring you back down from your Tax Day anxiety.

Then we wrap things up with Dale Geiringer, the Executive Director of California NORML. Dale’s got some great news about the fight to protect California’s Prop 215 patients from employment discrimination.

On this tax day, we here at NORML would like to remind you that marijuana prohibition costs $7,600,000,000 of your tax dollars every year. If you think that’s ridiculous, then join us here at NORML – you can learn everything you need to know at NORML.org. Call your Congress at 202-224-3121 – they’ll ask your zip code and put you in touch with your elected officials. Tell your representatives that it’s time to stop wasting taxpayer dollars in an effort to stop people from smoking marijuana that is doomed to failure. It still is a government of We the People, but you have to step up and do your part.

Tuesday is Government at Work day on the podcast, and coming up after the news, we’re going to speak with Matt Simon of the New Hampshire Coalition for Common Sense Drug Policy about the latest developments as a medical marijuana bill passed the House and will be heard by the Senate.

After that we’ve got our musical break for you. Cannabis Karri found a smokin’ Latino groove from Texas with Los Gallos and their song, “Free the People”, which is the perfect tune to play while filling out a last-minute 1040 form.

And to end the show, we’re joined by NORML’s Executive Director, Allen St. Pierre, who has some updates on NORML fundraising campaigns like the 420 MoneyBomb and the “Roll Your Own” screenings of Super High Me.

It’s the week leading up to Sunday, April 20th - Cannabis Liberation Day, or as others call it, 4/20. Coming up after the news we have the Reformer’s Calendar to let you know about the special 4/20 events happening this weekend. If you have a special 4/20 event you’d like to promote this week, send me an email at stash ‘at’ norml.org and I’ll plug your event on this week’s Stash podcasts and up on our Stash blog.

One of the events happening at a NORML Chapter near you is the “Roll Your Own Screening” of Doug Benson’s new comedy documentary, Super High Me. We sat down with Doug last week to learn more about the show and how you can help support the end of adult marijuana prohibition by seeing it this weekend.

All this week we’re also promoting the NORML 420 MoneyBomb. This is a fundraising effort by NORML to get as many people as possible to visit 420moneybomb.org on Sunday, April 20th, and join NORML and get a 4/20 sticker for a $4.20 donation to NORML.

For our musical break on this Blues Monday, Cannabis Karri has discovered Jake Lear, a singer/songwriter from Vermont who gives us a thoughtful tune called “Trouble in my Mind, Trouble in my Soul”.

Then we’ll finish up with comedian Rob Cantrell who is hosting his own 420 comedy show along with Marijuanalogues founder, Tony Camin, in Arlington, Virginia.

Friday is Cannabis Community day on the Stash, and coming up after the news, we’re speaking with our regular guest Steve Bloom, the webmaster at CelebStoner.com. We’ll be discussing the Democratic presidential candidate’s latest stands on medical marijuana, some crazy opinions offered lately by Snoop Dogg about Barack Obama, a CelebStoner Harold & Kumar contest, and Steve’s tour dates to promote his new book, Pot Culture, The A-Z Guide to Stoner Language & Life.

Next, Cannabis Karri brings back one of her favorites, the jazz group The Tallbrothers, with their song “You Get Me Too High”. These hep cats from British Columbia will get you the right kind of mellow for your weekend.

We wrap things up today with director/producer Craig Nisker and writer/actor Chris Iverson who are here to promote their new film, The Green Goddess, based on the true exploits of Iverson and friends growing six football fields’ worth of marijuana in Switzerland in the 1990s.

We’ve got a special treat for you on the Stash today. We’re going to be speaking with Carlos Cardona from the band “Omega Project”. He’s got quite a tale to tell about the misadventures they’ve had with law enforcement. We’ll follow-up the interview with one of their tunes, “Grow to Eat”.

Then we’ll speak with Al Byrne from Patients out of Time with a review of the Fifth National Clinical Conference on Cannabis Therapeutics held last weekend in Pacific Grove, California.

We’ve got a lot to cover, so sit back and relax with your favorite strain and enjoy your NORML Daily Audio Stash…
