WoodStone from Kansas City
WoodStone is a band out of Kansas City that brings us this experimental rock track, “Grass”. WoodStone consists of three members with multiple talents. Drawing influence from the sounds of the 60’s and 70’s garage band WoodStone gives a vintage feel that gets combined with grunge, blues, funk, and good old fashioned rock n’ roll.
Nick McEwen handles guitar and vocals, Tom Noel plays bass, and Ryan Shelledy rounds out this traditional rock three-piece on drums. This is another group whose website takes you to a dead link, so if anyone in the Kansas City area has information on WoodStone, please let us know at stash@norml.org.

DilloKing on Myspace
Tom Christy is a professional musician from Austin, Texas creating a wave of excitement with his folk/rock/country songs performed by his band, DilloKing (as in “armadillo”). Tom’s unique drumming style and experienced vocals add special flavor to his band, and he has performed on stage with ZZ Top and as the opening act for Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer, Point Blank, Night Ranger, Joe King Carrasco and the Romantics.
This song, “Marijuana Mountain”, won awards as the Best Folk Rock “Elevator Song” at GarageBand.com and makes a nice mellow transition this Thursday to the weekend.

Medical Marijuana (the band, not the herb)
Masta G and Sack Daddy Flash (a.k.a. Kevin and Chris) from Glasgow, Kentucky make up the unlikely hip-hop duo, Medical Marijuana, and their eponymous tune featured today, “Medical Marijuana”.
Sack Daddy Flash provides the vocals while Masta G provides “everything else”, which consists of a lot of note-by-note, beat-by-beat programming on a “400 MHz computer and cheap-ass sound card” with mixed in samples from “Up in Smoke” and “Soul Train”. Their lo-tech approach turned out a really enjoyable, old-school-flavored hip-hop groove.

Diamond Dog from Rockford, Illinois
There isn’t much I can find on this band called Diamond Dog from Rockford, Illinois. The band was formed in 1999 and I found this track called “420″ up at GarageBand.com. The latest gig I see listed for them was in 2003, and their website, http://diamonddog.net, is a dead link. But I just had to post this track because it was hardest-rocking song I’d ever heard celebrating 4:20.
If you have any information on whatever happened to Diamond Dog, send me an email at stash@norml.org.

If you are still looking for a costume for that Halloween Party, may I suggest going as a “Ganja Computer”? One of the coolest songs I have ever heard that has ganja in the title, we go back to early 2008 to upload this toker-wise tune. What ever you decide to wear, take this song to the party – it will be an instant hit!
Welcome to Friday, you beautiful stashers! Take a long deep puff of today’s track “Ganja Computer” by THE TENTACLES. Hip-hop, trip-hop, psychedelic, what-ever you call todays music it will groove you to your soul and have you humming the lyrics all weekend. With a killer bass line, funky lyrics and a bit of electronica, the Tentacles have me convinced that I do, in fact, have a ganja computer. Well-known in the underground New York music scene, members Sam Crees and Peter Teraberry are artists in every sense of the word. They have an online and traveling art show called MODA (Museum of Drunken Art) filled with all the weird and wonderful art they create and collect. Look them up on their myspace page and make sure you add this track to your next party mix tape.

ANY tune from the Tall Brothers can easily fit onto our best of ROctober toker tunes. These hep cats swept the 2008 Marijuana Music Awards and if you go to thier web site you can easily complete your Christmas shopping for all your hip friends by buying everyone on your list thier award winning CD “Simply Business”. It will be the coolest gift you ever got for anyone. Rumor has it they sometimes play some old-timey country music as their bluegrass alter ego “The Smallbrothers”. If I can get ahold of any of that, you know we will post it here on the stash!
Our British Columbia buds, THE TALLBROTHERS treat us to some righteous reefer jazz with their musical hit “I’m Kinda High”. Actual brothers, Thomas and Bill Small head this legendary Vancouver, BC band. Bill at one time oversaw a mega real estate business and the stress from that job led to ulcers. When he discovered that marijuana had cured his ulcers, he moved to Vancouver and helped launch the British Columbia Compassion Club Society that initially operated out of his apartment. This organization provides low-cost, high quality organic medicinal marijuana to anyone with a doctor’s prescription. Tom has a long musical history, playing many different instruments in different musical genres and working as an audio engineer. Their retro sound is cool and crisp jazz at its best. After headlining the 2004 Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, the Tallbrothers gained worldwide popularity in cannabis communities far from their Canadian roots. These guys would kick ass even if they weren’t singing about weed. Please visit their myspace page to sample and download this hip music.

Well, folks, I just got the email from Tam at Marijuana Music Awards that she will not be able to continue providing the Daily Toker Tunes on the Stash. It’s understandable, she’s very busy like me and she’s already given us so much great music. Thanks a ton, Tam, for helping to make this podcast rock.
But that means I have a need for a new music editor. Want to help? Here’s what the job entails:
Volunteerism. I can’t pay you for finding and posting tunes for us. However I can get you cool NORML stuff and VIP backstage access to all major events I attend. We may even be able to find a way to make the effort pay real money (”NORML Music Awards”, anyone?).
Web Searching. We can’t play any tunes that are licensed by ASCAP or BMI (i.e., popular chart tunes like Cypress Hill or John Mayer, for example), we can only play “podsafe music” (i.e. unsigned independent artists usually found on Myspace or elsewhere). I have links to popular podsafe music sites; the trick is finding the weed-friendly tunes.
Musical Taste. For every decent pro-pot song I find, I find ten more that are recorded poorly, played badly, written strangely, or just plain suck. You’ll need not only the taste to pick the good songs, but also a wide enough taste to enjoy everything from country to rap to metal to jazz.
Writing. You’ll have access to the Stash to post the short introductions, album covers / photos, download links, and audio players for the Daily Toker Tunes.
Uploading. You’ll also have access to the Stash’s web folder to upload and rename the tunes you post.
So is this something you’d enjoy taking on as one small way to help end marijuana prohibition? Send me an email at stash@norml.org with the subject Music Editor and let’s talk.

As Tam is preparing for the Marijuana Music Awards, we have been re-visiting our favorite songs from the past and calling it ROctober. My love affair with Jet Baker began way before I heard his Stoner Love Songs album, but that did it. My soul belongs to cannabis activism, but my heart belongs to Jet Baker. Share some love today, Stashers!
Today we get all lovey-dovey with JET BAKER as he is about to release his new CD, “Stoner Love Songs”. Jet makes no secret that he likes Pot, but today’s musical hit puts it to verse with “I Like Pot”. Jet is a strong warrior for cannabis reform, and his wacky and fabulous comedy is his weapon of choice. Jet began his journey into marijuana music by winning a High Times contest where he won a trip to the Amsterdam Cannabis Cup in 2000. It was filmed for the first High Times reality show. He has been part of the crew at the Cannabis Cup ever since, hosting the Wake and Bake Amsterdam Show each morning at the Cannabis Cup Expo.Since that historic event in 2000, Jet has become the most prolific marijuana musician in the world with over 100 tracks about weed on Itunes. You can even find his music on Amazon and Walmart dot com these days. Yes, Jet has done so much in the last 8 years to get our message into the mainstream. As he puts it, “Cannabis is here to stay. Frickin decriminalize it already!” Hear, hear Jet! You can interact with Jet on his website, www.jetrap.com, or you can visit his myspace page. Thanks for all the love songs, we feel the same way about you! XXXOOOXXX!

How does a country song make it onto the “Best of ROctober”? Well, it has to be pretty kick-ass….that’s how! I love this tune from Jon Nicholson. It is insightful, funny, easy-to-sing-along and safe to share with your grandparents. Feel free to post your own senior-toker stories in the comment section.
A folky singer-songwriter to complement an expensive coffee and a mellow strain is what we are serving today. JON NICHOLSON is an amazing self-taught fingerstyle guitarist who calls Spokane, Washington home. Jonathan began playing guitar at 15, and it sounds like the guitar has become an extension of his arms. Today’s music hit, “Grandma’s Gettin’ High” is an insightful ballad that evokes country greats like Willie and Waylon. As the boomers are aging, it is natural that the median age of marijuana smokers is getting older, but I still think about an earlier generation that didn’t have the same opportunities to partake, and I remember that it’s never too late to learn. Have you talked to your grandparents about pot? I think I’ll put that on a bumper sticker! If you like his music please visit Jon’s page at jonathannicholson.com.
