This fifteen second Flash animation from NORML touting the economic benefit of marijuana legalization was too objectionable to CBS, who canceled NORML’s contract to place the following on the giant “Super Billboard” in Times Square:
We also noted the hypocrisy of telling us that NORML’s ad was too contentious an issue ad for the billboard while running – on Super Bowl Sunday – the controversial Focus on the Family anti-abortion ad featuring college QB Tim Tebow and his mother:

It does not matter which side of the abortion debate you lie, you can certainly agree that abortion is one of the most contentious and controversial issues of our times. NORML, Focus on the Family, and the African-American anti-abortion outreach group Life Education and Research Network that funded these latest Atlanta billboards are all non-profit advocacy organizations lobbying for very controversial issues.
However, the anti-abortion groups seem to have no trouble getting their message out on CBS airwaves and billboards, while NORML is denied four times in two years the opportunity to pay to use the same airwaves and billboards.
I also find it interesting that the groups whose messages are accepted by CBS are trying to criminalize a legal activity (abortion), a policy position only supported by 42% of the American people surveyed in the latest Quinnipiac University poll; whereas NORML’s message of legalization rejected by CBS is a policy position supported by 44% to 53% of the American people surveyed lately by Gallup and Angus Reid. Even more interesting when CBS itself polled support for legalization at 41%.

I don’t mean to sidestep the issue here, but since when were BLACK babies a different SPECIES? We are all the same SPECIES. We are all HUMAN. The fact that CBS allowed this ad proves not only are they favoring a specific political agenda, and excluding others, but they AND the sponsors of the ad are RACIST.

I agree with WakeUpDead. None of the ads including the pro-life ones or NORML’s ad are offensive, but certainly some are more politically correct and NORML’s doesn’t fit into that category.
The networks don’t want to piss off the federal government lest the administration use someone else for their exclusive speeches and they make the naughty list like Fox News.
Super Bowl, they would reject it too, its not about the money. Its about their moral agenda and what message they want to put out there, its just funny that they dont have the same standard for their shows, they could care less, but for Ads its whole different set of standards, but we all know what it really is DISCRIMINATION, to keep a group silenced due to a skewed moral agenda!
To me Its just wrong, slavery, rape and killing have all have been morally right at some point in our long history, however now we seen these things as Wrong and Discriminating, people didnt stand for it and changed the laws that let it happen and time changed the publics mind. Again prohibition, gay marriage and others are now fighting these same battles to change laws and minds.
We just need to remember when the walls of slavery came down everyone that helped it continue were all standing with their dicks out and everyone could see the truth of what they help continue and how wrong they were for doing it. So we can only remember who is helping to continue this discrimination and when the day comes that the wall falls we can only hope to be there to laugh at all these prohibitionists with there dicks out and their social hands cuffed by the citizens that now see the wrong they have done over the years to continue this Wrongful discrimination and Prohibition.
