CNN Edits Out Pot Purchase from D.L. Hughley’s Final Show via TVNewser
The final “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News” was taped at CNN’s New York studios this afternoon. And it appears CNN higher-ups forced an edit on producers. A TVNewser tipster tells us, “a large section of a segment about marijuana legalization” was edited out of the final broadcast.
Hughley recently visited a marijuana dispensary in Oakland, California after his doctor had written him a prescription for medicinal marijuana. Hughley apparently has chronic back pain.
But that portion will not be shown during the segment on the final show. A CNN spokesperson tells TVNewser, “We always edit pieces to conform to our editorial standards.”
The final “Hughley” airs Saturday night at 10pmET. [And what are these "editorial standards"? That you can't film someone following their doctor's recommendations in accordance with California state law? That's odd, because after watching CNN for years, it seems they never have any "editorial standards" preventing them from making some bucks off the high ratings for the pot porn they love to show in breathless reports from blowhards like Lou Dobbs. -- "R"R]
In my own humble opinion, the basic problem is that Liberals don’t have the spine to act on what they believe, and Conservatives don’t have the stomach to trust people to be responsible with their own lives. The drug laws don’t have a reason to exist, the collateral damage of the war on drugs is too great to sustain. It may take perhaps only one man with conviction and power to end this policy. Barrack doesn’t need to support legalization, he simply needs not to oppose it. I’m certain that within 4 years we will have a end to prohibition.
Notice that CNN is widely perceived to be a liberal counterpart to FoxNews.
It’s a big problem with corporate media. They have to be conservative: not necessarily in a “right-wing” way but in a “follow-the-law-and-shut-up” sort of way. The lawyers at the top demand it.
ReasonTV–the “right-wing” libertarian home of advocates for tax cuts and foes of regulating small business–doesn’t give a shit if the Feds don’t like it.
For my friends on the left, we’ve got to recognize that the Obama administration won’t do the right thing–unless we make it politically worth it to do the right thing.
What about Drew Carey for reasontv.com ? I see Barker is coming back to the PIR.
Does D.L .have a copy of the tape ?
No, I think they just want him to look unbiased. That is ok, because of this ridiculous notion that if you smoke it you can’t report on it. It is kind of like an embedded war reporter isn’t actually IN the army.
Its stupid, but it is fine, as long as the rest of the program addresses the issue adequately.
It would have made for a great segment though!
Well I guess CNN goes on the list along with Obama and Kelloogs.
