I am the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" for my work producing Oregon NORML's TV show, "A Cannabis Community Forum", and for helping to institute Portland's wildly successful medical marijuana cardholders meetings, where we help sick and disabled Oregonians acquire cannabis plant starts, learn gardening, and understand the medical marijuana law. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to be our daily voice.

cnn had a pretty awsome story on their website today about a kid and his mom that opened a dispensery in colorado, definetly worth checking out. even a little radical russ rant at the end from the mom.

Exactly! Sure have two Vicodin and chase it with a beer and then you can have visitation rights to your daughter but if you use medical cannabis that would put your daughter in danger… the fu*king least funny joke ever…

I still don´t understand, I probably never will but that is ok with me. It is ok to give your child legal amphetamine (ritalin, adderall). But it is not ok for parents to use medical cannabis in their bathroom. People are just too brainwashed that because we have nice small little, FDA-approved pills they are safe and harmless, but a natural plant is bad because it is a drug and drugs are bad so drug-users are bad because drugs are bad mKay. It is about time we as Americans look ourselves in the mirror…

Anyone else offended that this woman has to hide in her bathroom to vaporize and still feels the need to bend over and blow out the window (vapor, not smoke)? What an ordeal to take her medicine! … and what is really bothersome to me is that, as this kid grows up, all he is going to know is that mom locks herself in the bathroom (long enough for the vaporizer to heat up and blow up the bag, and then smoke it – what 5-10 minutes, at least, right?) – if our laws don’t change, that kid is going to think his mom is in their smoking crack or shooting heroin or something – NOT “taking her medicine.” :-(

It is sad when patients have to hide in their own homes to protect their families – but as the next portion of the story shows, where the dad lost his rights to see his kid unsupervised, it truly isn’t just paranoia; she really probably does have to hide it from her kid and everyone else. Sad.

Sorry the previous posters seem to have missed the point of the video.

This woman shows parental responsibility, and I respect that.

I think it’s curious to note the reporter repeatedly refers to medicinal cannabis as “pot”. While that’s far from uncommon, I wonder if they were doing a story on the legal medical application of methamphetamines, would they be using terms like crank or speed?

fentanyl patch, way stronger than heroin = sweet man
non toxic cannabis = doucebag mom

seriously, they don’t know what they’re talking about.

Sure have all the beers and drinks you want while your kids are home but smoke a joint and your a bad parent? This lady that wants to save kids from pot smoking parents needs something better to do with her time! Why not go after big alcohol and stop the ads and promotion of drinking like its safe and ok, I think kids will have more dangers when it comes to alcohol than they ever will with pot smoking parents!
