Every year NORML holds a legal/dispensary conference in beautiful Aspen, Colorado. Colorado NORML wants to encourage as many people as possible to be able to attend this educational and entertaining conference. Throughout the year Colorado NORML holds fundraising events to raise money for our Hunter S. Thompson Scholarship. The scholarship provides for conference fees, room, and a flight stipend that allows the recipient to attend the Aspen event.
This years three-day Aspen Legal Seminar will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, June 10-12 at the Gant Hotel. As with past legal seminars in Aspen, Chris and Gerry Goldstein have graciously offered to host a special Friday night benefit party for the attendees at their lovely home in Aspen. Chef Chris Lanter from Cache Cache (a popular Aspen restaurant) — will be catering the party.
On Saturday afternoon, June 12, Hunter Thompson’s widow, Anita Thompson, has kindly invited the seminar attendees out to the fabled Owl Farm in Woody Creek to spend the afternoon. Hunter S. Thompson, the celebrated writer and journalist, was a longtime NORML Advisory Board member and supporter, who first joined the Advisory Board in 1973, and served until the time of his death in 2005.
To apply for the Hunter S. Thompson Scholarship, please send a two paragraph email explaining your rationale for attending the seminar, as well as your history of activism and advocacy on behalf of NORML’s mission to end adult marijuana prohibition, to srwells55@hotmail.com with your name and “HST” in the Subject Line. Due date is April 15, 2010. Colorado NORML is the sole judge of all entries.
