I am the producer of The NORML Network, the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog, and NORML's Outreach Coordinator. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" and I travel across the country to educate people on marijuana reform. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to give voice to the Marijuana Nation and to speak for those who can't speak up.

    All TOO true…
    - The CHILDREN have grown up…
and are now experiencing the pains
    of inevitable physical-deterioration
    of life beyond ‘thirty-something’…

    - After 40, all pain-relieving
    drugs ought to be perfectly-legal,
especially those directly-derived from plants / botanicals.

    - May former ‘drug-czar’ Barry McCaffrey,
    die a more painful, disease-riddled,
    horrible death than
    lupus-patient, the late Robin Prosser,
whom he dismissed the medical efficacy
    of medicinal-cannabis for.

    - No forgiveness for the bastard,
    despite my biblically-based screen-name…
UNLESS he REPENTS of his pseudo-christian
    Religion Against Marijuana… :-P

And what prestigious medical school did Officer Powers graduate from?

There seems to be some concern that there is little or not “Follow up” on who is “deserving.” I wonder who decides whether or not a diabetic is “deserving” of insulin? My MD reviews my medications about once a year, to evaluate effectiveness, the question of whether or not I “deserve” to get blood pressure pills or an acid blocker never comes up.

All cannibis use is theraputic (go ahead, deny it) and on that basis, should be considered medicinal.

We need Doctors to stand up against these stupid laws and regulations over prescibing meds, even marijuana. What right does a DEA officer have in deciding whom is sick and whom is not or what meds and amounts they need? And then to say they dont need meds, well I wish them a day in my shoes without meds and marijuana and they will be begging for pain meds/Marijuana within an hour!

This has been a on going problem for years now and its just turned to marijuana. This battle about medication and how sick someone is has left this whole country in a mess. Doctors are scared to prescibe what is needed, people are then scared to go to doctors knowing they wont get the meds they truly need. They then medicate via black market, such as marijuana or even presciption drugs that the doctor will not prescibe due to fear of inquiry over amounts and to whom they are for!

WHY you ask? THE WAR ON DRUGS!

This has to stop, we can not call ourselves an advanced society when we let people suffer when we could take that suffering away!

I’ve have daily back pain from being a former athlete. I still play sports. I still work, drive a car, go to events. It’s usually only later when the adrenaline has worn off that the throbbing ache, pain kicks in. I could be on various prescriptions and have been prescribed them. That’s ok. But if I look ok and can walk and work, marijuana can’t help me?

Where did Gerry Powers get his medical doctor’s license from? I would not go to him for advice on my daily back pain.
