Stasher Jillian has been posting this idea in the Fresh Stash and I’ve seen others elsewhere mention it, too. Remember this statement from our Drug Czar that “legalization” is not in the president’s vocabulary, nor in his own?
I had written, “Somebody get Barack and Gil a dictionary!” as a joke, but Jillian took it seriously. She says you can get little pocket dictionaries at the Dollar Store. So let’s have at it…

How about this, buy the dictionary and rip out the page that has Legalization highlighted, send it in and tell him to tape it into his vocabulary.
We dont want legalization, We want decriminalization, The UN wont allow drugs to be legalized, they have to be decriminalized, nobodys read the UN report on the stash earlier??
Here’s the problem with decrim: you legalize the demand but not the supply. Sure, the user with less than an ounce is protected (or maybe fined), but where did he get that ounce? From a grower or a seller who’ll be arrested and do time for the transaction.
The UN “allowing” anything regarding drugs has a lot to do with the US strong-arming UN members to adopt the US no-tolerance drug policies. American legalization would surely change the UN’s stance on drugs. (“Yes, it would, and don’t call me Shirley.”)
That’s right, it has to be a market-based solution. Where the cartels and drug dealers are driven out of the market by lower-priced legal weed.

Hopefully the tons of dictionaries that are now on the way to Gil will find a nice home where they will be used and loved. I have a feeling that poor Gil cannot learn any new trix. He may well be another person, same as Antonio Costas, who will outlive any usefulness he may have brought to the table by his CHOICE to remain ignorant to reality, human nature, and the will of the people. My hopes are he will become smarter as time goes by……But for now I’ll file that under… ‘Aerosmith’…Dream On…Dream On…dream until your dreams come true…….
Excellent. However, please note–’legalization’ is a noun.
Noted and fixed. I was looking at an entry for “legalize” when I first wrote this.
