Somebody get Barack and Gil a dictionary!
Legalization (verb): the process of removing a legal prohibition against something which is currently not legal.
Or how about we get you a thesaurus!
admittance, allowance, authorize, charter, code, control, legitimate, license, permit, redress, regulate, rule, sanction, tax, tolerate
You cannot tell me Barack Obama made the Harvard Law Review without having “legalization” in his vocabulary. Director Kerlikowske, this dismissal of legalization as a worthy topic of discussion doesn’t just insult us, but also mocks the very serious state, national, and world leaders who have recently called for decriminalization and legalization as rational options for responding to your office’s 39-year-failure to have any serious effect on reducing the harm from drug use and the 100-years of manufactured harms from the policy of utter prohibition.

I am the producer of The NORML Network, the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog, and NORML's Outreach Coordinator. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" and I travel across the country to educate people on marijuana reform. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to give voice to the Marijuana Nation and to speak for those who can't speak up.

This is “transparency in government”?
No, uhmmm…
more like…
translucency
1.permitting light to pass through
but diffusing it so that persons,
objects, etc., on the opposite side
are not clearly visible:
Frosted window glass is translucent
but not transparent.
Another irony of Prohibition:
Schedule ONE = The least REGULATED schedule
of the un-Controlled Substances Act…
I believe Mr. Kerlikowske means well, but just to keep his job he had to LIE!
This is “transparency in government”? You can see it left a bad taste in his mouth to deny the existence of a particularly pertinent word in two very intelligent people’s vocabularies.
This just highlights the need for all of us to buckle down on the local levels, to focus an intense spotlight on the truth about cannabis and its myriad uses and limitless potential.
Like the one in Berlin, this wall, too—
will fall.
Your’re right Moldy…I can see it on his face, that he is not being straight forward…..Gil, get real so you can smile again.
Is “sellout” in your vocabulary? Turn your back on millions of followers, and turn your back on your job. The clocks ticking Obama. What’s it going to be?
moldy: good point..he did almost seem idk sad and I thought the same thing bout him mentioning Freedom of Speech!
This is just a reaffirmation that change will have to take place on the local level (where Gil came from). Too bad Gil couldn’t really say what was in his heart. It showed on his face that he had just lied. I guess you can never believe in or trust someone once they turn into a Federal Government employee.
It was curious that Gil mentioned free speech at the beginning of his statement.
That’s right Mr.420. The ONDCP is mandated by law to “take such actions as necessary to oppose any attempt to legalize the use of” marijuana.
Since they can’t truthfully say that it’s harmful enough to warrant the prohibition they have no choice but to lie. If they were to tell the truth they wouldn’t be taking such actions as necessary to blah blah blah..

But all the time we hear about public opinion is this and public opinion is that… If they don’t monitor sites like this then how do they know what people are thinking? Nobody’s ever asked my opinion!
Even yesterday’s drug report said “..growing chorus among politicians, the press, and even
in public opinion saying: drug control is not working.” How do they know? What do they monitor?
I want to find out so I can hit it all day long!!
@captain obvious: DUH!! but someone in the ONDCP checks NORML cuz they certainly knew when they post something about them!
@RR: correct me if im wrong but didnt you post something a while back about the drug czar HAVING to lie BY F
kin LAW about cannabis? if true then unfortunately this is no surprise…
Good point. All the better reason to contact Obama directly at 202-456-1111.
Neither Gil or Obama read this website… I’m just saying.
They estimate fifteen to twenty million of us….guess what…..we made the difference in Obama getting elected……because we want change….get serious about decriminalization Gil…get real Obama….because we the marijuana people got you both your job for change!
There it is right there!
Legalize = Regulate
Prohibit means to NOT regulate. Do you get it Gil do you get it?
