Marciano X is Brian William Johnson from Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, England.
A trained pianist, he has worked as a session musician on piano and keyboards for many top bands and composed music for films and television. Brian also works as an electronic / dance music producer, composer, and arranger as well as a producer of professional demos.
This toe-tapping track — including its title — uses samples almost entirely from vintage safety film Keep Off The Grass (1969/70), produced by the legendary Sid Davis who warped the minds of schoolchildren throughout the US from the 1950s to 1980s. Here’s some pot trivia for you: the film itself references an article in a special section of Life magazine from July 7, 1967 titled “Marijuana: Millions of Turned-On Users.”
With heavy dance beats and wry, tongue-in-cheek political undertones, “Grass Crutch” comments on the propaganda of yesteryear while encouraging laughing at it — at least, I found myself laughing along with the giggling, chuckling, and even cackling people in the song.
Marciano X can be found on Virb, MySpace, and Garageband.
Tis the season, even if I’m bah humbug — happy Solstice, Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Yule, Yalda, entirely different winter holiday, or no holiday at all from Sahra Kant and Electric Tuesday! Get high, relax, and stay cozy.

Oh, I dig it.
I know neither the streaming or download are working.
Unfortunately I’m not sure why the file isn’t found and I don’t have the access to check. :( Hopefully Russ will pop his head up soon.
You’ll still be able to listen to the song (and my intro!) in the podcast coming at you later today and I’m sure the post will be fixed as soon as possible.
I hope you’ll come back later and check it out! :D
