ReporterHerald- Fort Collins couple to sell marijuana
The owners of a new alternative healing center hope organic medical marijuana will be a gateway into funding for other forms of alternative medicine.James and Pam Fleming of Fort Collins are opening EnerChi Healing Center, 1502 S. College Ave., on Monday. The center will have 20 practitioners who offer acupuncture, reflexology, yoga, meditation and other holistic treatments.
James Fleming wants to offer the services below market value, and he will supplement their costs with the medical marijuana revenue.
Colorado voters legalized medical marijuana through Amendment 20 in 2000, which authorized using the drug to treat debilitating medical conditions such as cancer, glaucoma or AIDS.
Authorized users must have a doctor’s recommendation and obtain a registry card issued by the state health agency.
Marijuana users at EnerChi need to list the clinic as their caregiver on the registry card, James Fleming said.
EnerChi’s marijuana is supplied by a coop of growers. Buyers can purchase it at the clinic, but they can only “medicate in private setting that is most comfortable to them,” not in the clinic, he said.
My sources in Colorado tell me this is not the only coop that is operating in Colorado, but that most of them like to keep a pretty low profile. It remains to be seen how the feds will respond to this very public intention to sell medical marijuana, which remains illegal under federal law, and, to the best of my understanding, questionable under Colorado’s Amendment 20 that regulated medical marijuana. There is a statute that reads:
Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions, no person, including a patient or primary care-giver, shall be entitled to the protection of this section for his or her acquisition, possession, manufacture, production, use, sale, distribution, dispensing, or transportation of marijuana for any use other than medical use.
So does that mean Colorado residents who are patients or caregivers are protected in the sales of marijuana for medical use? It’s an interesting question, and one that I will be following-up on with one of our NORML Legal Committee attorneys from Colorado on tomorrow’s Stash.

I am interested in learing the steps that one would take in order to become legaly able to produce the all mighty medicinal for resale to the co- ops or dispensaries in Coloroado, but am coming up short on info. I imagine a license to grow and sell would be needed but am in the dark on the rest. If anyone would have any information that would be greatly appreciated.
If I am a patient and I grow my six plants and dont’ use it all, can I sell it to a despensary if I have a wholesale license to sell?
how do i apply for a colorado growers license?

I also live in Wyoming and have been researching medicinal use in breast cancer treatment. I have even considered trying to have a residence in Colorado. What would be your recommendations? Thanks,
Col
To get a referral from a Dr. for this medication in Colorado, you need to have a drivers license in this State, If you live in Wyoming and don’t have a Colorado I.D. then I believe that the Dr.s here cannot refer you for this medication. If you want to email me, I will do my best to help you recieve the medication that you prefer in your state or this one.
God Bless
ALWAYS REMEMBER TO MEDICATE RESPONSIBLY…..

I’m all for medical marijuana. And all for making pot just as legal as cigarettes. It’s a shame though, that most of the people who want to see this as badly as I do, go about ‘making themselves heard’ the way they do. I mean, even when something as significant as proposition 44 comes along, we get people with money putting billboards up with colorful “pot logos”. If you go in these shops that sell medical marijuana, you’ve got them creating products that are clearly knocking off known logos and brand marks, but changing them enough to make them look “cool” for the typical “hippie” type “pothead”.
If you ask me, these people are the reason WHY pot hasn’t been made legal. If these potheads stopped showing up in tyedye shirts and headbands talking about “my fuckin freedoms, man”, and more people starting showing up in golf shirts with combed hair, things would start happening. If the coops sold their marijuana packaged like “relicore” instead of “hydroxycut”, people might take it a little more seriously. Make the inside of your store look like a “head shop” and chances are, the feds will see it that way. Make it low-key and stop with all the cutesy packages and names like maui WOWee! and all the potleaf logos, and there would be a better chance that decriminalization would happen across the country.
Hello……
I am so Happy that we are finally getting somewhere in this world..They are baby steps but a little step is better then NO step at all, We must come together in agreement that we (MJ smokers) are treated unfairly by the goverment. We should not get punished just because we perfer to medicated with the natral stuff rather then persciption pills that have so many other chemicles in them. God made this Plant to grow from the ground so why so much drama….

Great to see some new faces. These types of shops when ran legally are no different than other business.I agree most other shops are very small and dark, EXCEPT Cannabis Therapeutics who continues to raise the Bar ever higher,They offer a medicare?medcade program for those less fortunate that others should implement. They support research and development of new delivery methods.while others try to to aquire new ground Cannabis Therapeutics tries to provide better quality to life.
It is as you said there is many “co-ops” in colorado they are just very small and private, HOWEVER we are compiling these groups to one list thru the internet. So we can have all the stocks of a store with out one location or business to be watched and harrassed. We also offer cheaper than street prices, with patient/doctor/and caregiver refferal service, and only private meetings at private locations!!!!!

This is what Northern Colorado needs. I can literally see the shop from my home here in Fort Collins. All pacients as of late have to drive anywhere from 2-4 hours to obtain their medicine from a shop. Now we can use bikes like most good residents do here anyway! As far as the feds, they may be able to ‘delay’ or try to inturrupt things, but we WILL prevail. Herbs are so overgrown here anyway. Thank You Mr. and Mrs. Flemming!
