House lawmakers still have time to act this year in favor of making Illinois the fifteenth state to regulate the physician-supervised use of medical marijuana.
Senate Bill 1381, which seeks to allow qualified patients to use marijuana legally under state law, passed the Senate in 2009, and awaits action by the full House.
On Tuesday, March 16, and again on Tuesday, April 20, Illinois NORML will be organizing patient lobby days at the state capitol to educate lawmakers on the need to act on SB 1381. For more information, or to participate in these events, please visit the Illinois NORML website here.
Please take two minutes of your time to write your House member urging him or her to act expeditiously in support of medical marijuana. If you would like more information on this measure, please visit Illinois NORML.
Thank you for supporting NORML’s marijuana law reform efforts in Illinois.

Illinois Legislature Just One Vote Away From Medical Marijuana Reform
Jason, I have bi-polar disorder and also was given many scripts that are terrible for my body, within the first six months I had developed diabetes out of nowhere. I also grew my own marijuana and as a matter of fact I just turned myself in on New Years eve.I am awaiting charges from the state of Illinois. I also struggle with the state wanting to prosecute me. I have saved the state thousands of dollars by growing and using my own mj.. See I have state insurance and the drugs the state has to pay for, for me costs over a thousand dollars each month. Not to mention the cost of four or five police officers and we havent even ahad plea trial yet. I had been growing my own for three years. So add up medication costs not to mention I have been going to see a psych doc since the policecame to my home and took my medical grade strains that help keep me balanced. I have almost lost my family(wife,3 children) do to the rapid cycling my disease can cause if not properly medicated. I have no way to replace the strains and I cant afford to buy medical grade marijuana in Illinois it costs at least fourhundred per ounce. I feel your pain and I wish the best for you. We must change the laws or move to a different state in order to have the sane rights as other Americans.
P.S. They are also charging me with a felony.
Peace and Love my Brotha!
Hey Jason,
What are the details of your hearing, and what more can we do to assist you?
I am a disabled vet with a great moral background and am on 3 different medications one for pain, another for muscle spasms and an anti-inflammatory, and if taken regularly another to defecate which is only going to tear up my liver and kidneys for the next 20 to 30 years not to mention my thought process and memory loss is significantly more on the cocktail of drugs then smoking marijuana. I was arrested for growing my own and at the top of my charge it says THE PEOPLE OF ILLINOIS VS. JASON COLLETT, and as I sat there in shackles like a criminal all I could think of was why am I being punished for something that, after a lot of research has been shown to be safer then cigarettes and alcohol! Not to mention saves gov. money and provides revenue. I need help and support I am organizing a show of presence at my court hearing and if they try to convict me of a felony I will do my best to flip this state upside down, have room up there on the 20th let me know which day or days would be the best to bring a large convoy of people please.
Please help me, Jason
