I will be appearing live tonight on Portland’s Cannabis Common Sense, a production of our sponsor, The Hemp & Cannabis Foundation. Show starts at 8pm Pacific / 11pm Eastern and is streamed through Ustream.tv. On tonight’s show, I debut a new 10-minute video where I deconstruct Joseph Califano, Jr. on The O’Reilly Factor, plus Madeline Martinez and I discuss the Aspen Legal Seminar.

I am the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" for my work producing Oregon NORML's TV show, "A Cannabis Community Forum", and for helping to institute Portland's wildly successful medical marijuana cardholders meetings, where we help sick and disabled Oregonians acquire cannabis plant starts, learn gardening, and understand the medical marijuana law. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to be our daily voice.

Caught the live show, called in twice was on hold to speak and then got cut off twice. But it was a good show, a little less informative about legislation around the country this time, but still a good show.
Dam I really tried to talk with you last night and get some thoughts about how much trouble I’m having in Kentucky finding people that want to get involved! I truly think the only way is when the federal government makes a “National Medical marijuana law” or changing marijuana from a schedule one to a schedule 2 or 3 even! They are so scared of the cops and judges here; they really go after small time pot arrests and then use those to get pictures in papers, so folks are always seeing headlines Pot arrest in YOUR County!!! Scare tactics! Judges do what they want, these small county Judges run these towns, their family is all in high level jobs and they run the towns.
I was handing out website addresses to folks for about 2 hrs last week in front of the tobacco shop, NORML, MPP, LEAP, HEMP.com and few others plus my Cannabis email for follow up interest! The only people that stood there and spoke to me was a couple from Illinois, down to visit family. They were all ready to join the cause and fight for the legislation in there state. I wish people down here were more open about it but they have been hunted down like dogs for so many years they just play it silently scared to even talk about marijuana.
I told you about the 18 year old, driving a truck and McDs bag flies out the back, him not knowing it, cop stops him, to tell him he needs to watch it and then it turns into a search and arrest. Cop finds 2 roaches from 4-5 weeks ago, so kid gets from Judge, DUI, 6months no driving, 120hrs service, and 18months probation. Wonder why folks are so scared down here, and don’t want anyone to know they smoke? Well that same kid had failed his school drug test 3 weeks prior and was on academic probation, if he gets caught again he’s out! Well like I said the Judge’s brother, he is the Superintendent of the county school; gee I wonder why that cop would stop him and then decide to search? Could it be because he failed that school drug test? Makes you wonder, but it’s so wrong to use private info to seek out arrests, but it’s happening every day down here!
So Russ I missed talking with you about this last night, but if you have any ideas what I can do, more than throwing myself out there to show others we need to fight? I just can’t think of how to overcome their more than justified fears of cops targeting known smokers? We should be able to talk about what we want without fear of arrest later due to it! I have had one email since you gave that “shout out” last week, yet he hasn’t responded to my reply asking if he was interested and his ability to meet up, or could he be on the board, but no reply!
Please, any help would be great!
Sincerely,
Brent from KY
Sounds like Robert Johnson himself singin’ “Sweet Home Chicago”.
