(JackHerer.com) This is Jack’s wife, Jeannie. Jack had a heart attack in Portland, Oregon on September 12. I was in California waiting for him to come home. I flew to Portland, went to the hospital and was told that a woman named Joy Graves had come to the hospital with a Medical Power of Attorney that Jack had allegedly signed, naming her and Chuck Jacobs as the people in charge of Jack’s medical care. It wasn’t complete and looks like someone forged his signature. The hospital’s legal team determined it was no good.Jack is now in a skilled nursing facililty in Eugene. Joy Graves has taken the paper to them and they have accepted it until their legal team decides what to do. In the meantime, I am not allowed to see Jack or even get news about his condition over the phone. Jack has already been neglected in the nursing home. He fell out of bed there and hit his head shortly after being admitted. He had lumps on his head from it and bruises on his upper eyelids.
I’ve had to hire an attorney to deal with this. I don’t have much money but I’ll do what I can. I love Jack very much and can’t believe this is happening to him now, when he needs me the most.
Yes, I know when I’m in the middle of a hempfest, just about ready to go up and give a rousing speech, I make sure to sign over my medical power of attorney to somebody who is not my wife.
I’ve reached out to all my contacts in the Oregon cannabis community to see if I can get more on the story. I spoke with Paul Stanford from The Hemp & Cannabis Foundation who told me that Chuck Jacobs and “a lady with some different name” (i.e., could be Joy Graves, but using a pseudonym) brought Jack to Portland and had been traveling with him. Paul is looking up his records to find Mr. Jacobs’ phone number and I will follow up as soon as I have it.

Yes, Eve does seem to comment on alot of Jack’s articles. I guess she just won’t give up trying to “free” Jack Herer from the wife he didn’t and still doesn’t want to be around him, at all! If you all knew Jack better, you would have known how happy he was with the people he was around during the last couple of months before his heart attack.. He also worked hard to communicate with Joy Graves and I and his nurses and therapists while Joy and I were with him in Oct./Nov. 2009 , after his heart attack.
Jack is “in there” and needs more than normal treatment and therapy than his family is providing him. Jack DID sign the “POA” and “Medical Directive” for a reasons that no one seems to understand, but a few; To protect JACK’S medical interests and his dearest wish to publish his manuscript “The Most High- Plant Secrets of the Gods and Explorations Revealing the End of the World as You Know It” that his “estranged” wife, Jeannie has threatened to subvert. Jack had wishes that he signed to be carried out. What about Jack’s wishes? Does his own wishes not count at all?

Something is wrong here. I do not believe Jack would want to be away from his wife, when he is so sick. Please investigate Joy Graves and Chuck Jacob, Who are these people? It seems like they could be Jack’s stalkers. This is definately wrong.
Russ please check you your personal e-mail stash@norml, I sent you and Jeannie an e-mail with my concerns here. This sounds very fishy. Also everyone notice on almost every webpage one of the stories about jack over the last month and a half in the comments an “Eve Lentz” is giving her 2 cents of the situation, she also mentions Joy Graves and Chuck Jacobs in her posted comments. I realize from reading these posts it seams they are “friends/caregivers/associates/drivers” but why are these peoples names more synonomous than his Wife Jeannie and why do they appear to have Leagal and media control over this story, more than Jeannie???
I wouldn’t have questioned these people’s intentions, nor did I reading them over the last few weeks if it wasn’t for Jeannie’s Plea on Jack’s website that she runs.

You can find a picture of Joy Graves on Facebook. She is seen posing with Jack and some other man. Jack’s wife knows Chuck Jacobs, who says he is not involved in this.

this is just plain horrible! I read the post on myspace from Jeannie and I couldnt believe what I was reading. We all need to do something about this for Jack!
Just search google for “Jack Herer” “Joy Graves” and search again for “Jack Herer” “Chuck Jacob”
It appears Jack’s son knows who Joy Graves is and she has a facebook page with her and Jack. Chuck has a Myspace psace with him and Jack. Perhaps Jack is trying to stay away from his wife?
