By keeping marijuana illegal, our government sends us a very clear message, “not only are you too stupid to decide what goes into your own body, but if you dare disobey Big Brother and actually decide for yourself, you are a criminal and will be punished”. Our government allows us to ingest tobacco and alcohol, which are clearly more dangerous than marijuana. But safety is not the issue. The issue is control over personal decisions.
If we allow a few “sick” people to control what goes into their own bodies, we will open up a Pandora’s Box of abuse. Soon NH residents who aren’t even sick will want to have control over what goes into their own bodies. Passing HB 648 could eventually lead to keeping government out of all our personal decisions, not just out of our medical decisions. Governor, this is left-wing lunacy.
We in the “live free or die” state can’t allow a few “sick” people to decide what goes into their own bodies. Healthy New Hampshire residents might wake up from their comas and realize that marijuana prohibition for any adult is a blatant violation of the very essence of our state motto. Making criminals out of NH residents who simply put something into their own bodies (sick or not) mocks the very concept of “living free”. If you don’t have sovereignty over your own body, you most certainly are not living free.

That’s the “camel’s nose under the tent” for the prohibitionists, and in that sense, they are correct. Once you decide that sick people should be able to use marijuana, it’s hard to find compelling reasons why healthy people shouldn’t be able to use marijuana. How do you explain to the children that the guy in the wheelchair sharing a joint with me is a patient and I’m a criminal?
It was ludicrous to lock people up for their use of marijuana in the first place. Unconstitutional, if you ask me. Imagine justifying to the Founding Fathers the State’s need to intrude upon our “persons, papers, houses, and effects” for cultivating and possessing hemp. Then imagine defending the State’s right to imprison hemp-producing citizens for inflexible mandatory minimum terms of decades from charges of “cruel and unusual punishment”.
It is the boldest indicator of how far we’ve degraded from our ideals of “the land of the free” that it takes a parade of the cancer-ridden and wheelchair-bound to wake most Americans up to the insanity of marijuana prohibition. It is a testament to the power of racism, fear, and propaganda that Americans can only accept a minimum amount of freedom in form of a few plants and a handful of dried cannabis for a tiny few of the most vulnerable citizens, and then only with strict supervision and regulation.

The person that wrote that article clearly has mental problems, maybe she should be using cannabis.
She contradicts herself a few times in that article, at first I thought this was sarcasm, but after reading a little more…nope she’s just retarded.
Yes, I know. I’m just piggybacking the “camel’s nose” stuff to highlight how absurd it is.
Russ, this commentary is a satire. Read the whole thing. The author clearly believes the WOD is a farce.
