The facts as stated in Mr. Brown’s letter on Feb. 15 are not in question. Nor did I intend in my letter on Feb. 2 to imply that there is no danger in drug use. But if you have ever driven, you are at much higher risk for death than using any drug once a week. Facts are peculiar like that.
One must look at all the facts if intending a factual argument to end in ones favor. The dangers of drug use are clearly great fodder for fear mongers, but the real problem with drugs in America comes from the money. Far fewer health problems are caused by personal use than by the crimes committed to perpetuate the business of the criminal industry.
By removing the “criminal tax” on drugs, we would alleviate most of the greed-driven violence attributed as a drug problem. For your children’s sake, please look into Judge Jim Gray – Call To Action, in which all of this is addressed by a well-credentialed judge.
You may fear your kids might smoke a joint some day, but most will try some drug at least once. I fear that they will realize the hypocrisy in which they were raised and rebel with disastrous results. I guess we are both right.
