I am the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" for my work producing Oregon NORML's TV show, "A Cannabis Community Forum", and for helping to institute Portland's wildly successful medical marijuana cardholders meetings, where we help sick and disabled Oregonians acquire cannabis plant starts, learn gardening, and understand the medical marijuana law. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to be our daily voice.

i think that the health care folly a doux’s are what is making us wait . here in oregon and the rest of the nation. i smoked it when i was a kid and threw the anerexia it helped and bulima it helped becuase it held the food down. it was a sleep aid as well. but the dr.s selection and not natrolized selection is what has duluted the nation to thank it is bad the truth be told that my husband and i would rather smoke than draink and it is less harmful then alcohol. doctors won’t be able to profit as much as they could with there chemicals that cause you to keep going back to them . it is a natural product and i hate chemicals . that is why i went to all nateral products but i can’t get a card even for ptsd and depression but it works when the drugs made me 10 times more depressed and flip threw flash backs it helps the flash backs and temperally releaves stress due to those simptems but here in mac oregon i can’t even get a card becuase i don’t qulify . so evry now and then i know people who grow it and i will smoke it illagally but now one will ever catch it in my system pure is the way to go .

Well, California didn’t legalize now what?! :-(

We moved from Calif. 6yrs ago to Arkansas, due to finances and wanted less neighbors. Believe or not, 99.9% of the so-called conservative right wingers here, that we have met are more concerned about effects of meth and Alcohol ,than Medical MJ . These same Folks would vote to legalize it, and agree it is a waste of Law enforcement’s time and money to aggressively pursue these Mj arrests. If CA and other States let down the pressure to Finally Re -legalize all Hemp now , then we have missed the window of opportunity -Keep on Keepin on .

Oregon has not received enough signatures. As of May 5th we only had 4014 of 125000. So if you live in Oregon I urge you to volunteer to collect signatures so I can keep a 3 month supply of weed without being locked up.

I think Oregon should legalize meth! They would mke more mony that way. We’re in a recession so fuck it! The state could run that shit. 8-)

Historically (see Raich v. Gonzales) it has been the conservative, GOP-appointed Supreme Court Justices who have supported the state-level ability to legalize drugs, not the Democratic-appointed ones.

…which is interesting, because most drug legalization supporters seem to generally vote Democratic.

The fight here mostly comes down to a states-rights and individual-versus-government fight, not a social values fight.

if this happens, which i know it will, there is gonna be lines for miles at the nearest stores. i will surely be in one or more of those lines. i have a good feeling this is gonna spark the fuse to end prohibition and bring the revinue and tourists like you wouldnt believe

I wouldn’t wait until 2012 either, because I think at least one of these initiatives will pass. Most likely the one in California will pass, but as a resident of Oregon, I have high hopes for our state as well. I know that Oregon would definitely follow California in their decision to legalize if nothing else. Oregon wants to legalize it, and most know that it’s a positive plant.

I for one think that Oregon will legalize next year, as well as California.

If it hits the polls in Oregon, I’m voting for it. What petition do I need to sign to make it happen. Wooooooo Hooooooooo!

It is unfortunate that bigots like yourself seek to divide us. I am a registered republican, a proud Evangelical Christian, and prolific supporter or the beer and liquor industries. How dare you diminish my support of a more tolerant US drug policy! The core tenant of conservatism is limited government, of Christianity is that every created being has the God given right to chose their own path, right or wrong. I wish people would learn to overcome their ignorance and prejudices.

I think Pres. Obama and the Dems lack the backbone to stand up to the Republican party, religious right, and the pharicutical, alcohol and tobacco industries. We need to push for legalization of pot and boycott all alcohol and any cigarettes made by philip morris and rj reynolds (Marlboro, Camel, Pall Mall) – (Roll tobacco is better, such as TOP, Bugler, Drum and Midnight Special.)

I wonder what popular opinion on legalization really is. It seems debate stances haven’t shifted much in the history of narcotics. I found a pretty good back and forth debate over it here: http://www.pandalous.com/topic/on_drugs

i think the Californian one will pass but im not so sure about the Oregon one

Todd, you’re more right than you know. California is so big that if they legalize, it’ll be the end of effective pot prohibition in America. Just like the existence of Vegas means that there IS an option for gambling in the US. Then, other states want to get in on the action.

With taxs and all I would hope.A pack of 20 Cheese joints with 1.5 grams per joint and 18% potance would be no more than $19.95. :-)

What! 2012, wait? why? We have the support and it’s easier to push the ball when it’s already rolling. All it’s gonna take is 1 or 2 states to push Nation wide legalization over the edge. They can set up check points and boarder patrols along Mexico but they cant do that around two of our own states. I Say go for it now and every day until they Legalize it.
