Our aging baby boomers (of which I am one) might just well be one of the more powerful voices in Marijuana Law Reform.
LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. (UPI) — Proponents of medical marijuana touted its benefits for aging baby boomers at a weekend conference in California.
The Medical Cannabis Conference in Laguna Woods was the first of its kind in Orange County, where authorities have fought pot dispensaries, The Orange County Register reported.
Despite a 1996 California law legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes, the county bans dispensaries in unincorporated areas, as do San Clemente, Huntington Beach and some other cities.
Laguna Woods Village, which allows dispensaries, does not have one, but groups run non-profit collectives.
Speakers, including physicians and researchers, described the benefits of cannabis and efforts at quality control and self-regulation. Some said ingesting the raw plant delivers medicinal properties without psychoactive effects.
