What should also be noted is that cannabinoid derived medications have not been shown to be as effective as marijuana itself it treatment of many conditions including neuropathy. The question will be whether companies will patent specific "prescription strength" cannabis strains and whether these strains will be the "legal marijuana" for medical use but marijuana grown in your backyard will be considered illegal.

Call me an optomist but I think the genie (truth) is out and cannot be contained or constrained by last-century laws. The Internet is delivering these facts to Middle Americans, and when they finally understand that there is a cheap, safe and effective garden/sunporch medicine that can be delivered via vapor, food, salves and tincture, their self-interest will drive a wave of demand that will sweep away devious and restrictive plans of big pharma and their govt co-conspirators. We the people of this revolution must accept nothing less than full legalization; adults only, taxed if purchased in stores, free to grow and use in any responsible manner we choose.

If Big Pharma wants to jump in then they should just hire some industry insiders to isolate strains for their usefulness and grow large Mono-culture crops for consistency! Its more convienient most people will only buy the best, and since most individuals wont have the resources to produce a crop thats as consistant or potent they will most likely opt to buy from Pharma.

Over my cold dead hands. You are absolutely right Russ. They do see this as a money making idea and we must stay on top to prevent this. Thank you Russ and Norml.

how does the fat that the US Gov't has a patent on "Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants" US Patent 6630507, change this scenario? Can the gov't sell or lease it's rights under this patent?

Completly agree with your thoughts here russ. The pharmecutical companies in america are some the most powerful and influential people in the country. They are also the most greedy, if they see this marijuana movement as a potential money maker they will take it!
