Minnnesota Law enforcement caught in a lie?
The days of the honest cop looking to solve issues in the community are long gone. Ever since the war on drugs has begun, cops have been encouraged to lie to the citizenry so they can “get the goods” on a trusting citizen. After years (decades) of lying, a liar can’t tell the truth even when that truth is staring him right in the face.
Representative Tom Rukavina, a member of the Minnesota’s State House Public Safety Policy and Oversight Committee, introduced a bill to allow medical marijuana for seriously ill patients. On Tuesday, Bob Bushman a member of the Statewide Gang and Drug Task Force couldn’t help but to lie to the committee..
“You’ve likely heard over the last several weeks that us in law enforcement have not been willing to share our concerns with proponents of this legislation, that we have not been willing to meet with them and that they have made almost all the changes we recommended and we still won’t support the bill,” he said.
“This is too important of an issue and bill to let these misstatements stand. The fact of the matter is that our coalition did meet with the author of this bill last year. We articulated almost two dozen concerns that we had with the bill, of which only three were actually addressed, and since that time proponents have said they have fixed all of our concerns.
“This is not only flat-out wrong. It is a distortion of the truth.”
Unfortunately for Bob, he had forgotten that Tom Rukavina was both the author of the bill and was on the panel he was addressing.
Looking at Bushman, he said, “I want him to look me in the eye and ask if he has ever talked to me in his entire life.”
“No member of your coalition has ever talked to me about this bill. Has anyone in this room ever talked to me about this bill?” he asked the crowd.
No one, including members of law enforcement, responded that they had talked to him about the bill.
“No one has ever asked me to since I became the chief author of this bill. No one,” Rukavina said.
“So, Mr. Bushman, what you said was not true.”
Let this be a lesson to all Reformers everywhere, neo-prohibitionists will lie to your face, they will make up facts that do not exist, they have no regrets about the distortions they tell about you or your stances. It is up to you to bring the facts, to dispute their lies, to call them to account for their beliefs and for the damage their baseless convictions have wrought on our communities and society. Remember always that our opponents firmly believe in their position despite all the facts and will stoop to any level to prevent you from bringing any change to the law. We must be greater in our convictions to bring truth and common sense to our government.
I would like a report on what the DEA really does with all that it confiscates, and how do we know they aren’t altering the numbers? These men cant even properly count plants! How much of this war on drugs is about lining the pockets of corrupted individuals. O wait the whole thing. Yet we are expected to remain calm and cooperate? submit to what we are told to do in OUR Country? This is a direct violation of our rights. If your reading this, Shame on you, Go write something, Tell Obama you will not be ignored, and do not appreciate his comic attitude toward such a serious issue. We aren’t some Radical “interest group who pushed their cause on a public forum” ok so the quote might not be perfect but its close from Robert Gibbs. “This has nothing to do with Green energy jobs” Gibbs again WTF? im too disappointed to continue. Join me NOW in writing an email to President Obama. Make him understand we aren’t some small gathering of a few hundred people.
Thank you for the Great posting and the opportunity to comment.
