London, Aug 12 (ANI): U.S. researchers have come up with an idea of using the combination of morphine and cannabis so as to better the painkilling responses.Joseph Holtman and Peter Crooks at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington say that teaming them up could allow doses to become smaller, reducing the possibility of addiction.
However, combining the drug had some drawbacks, reports New Scientist.
A simple mixture of the drugs produces unpredictable results because the body absorbs them at different rates.
To overcome that limitation, the researchers came up an idea of binding the two drugs together using a linking molecule such as an ester.
When the body snips this linking group, both drugs are released at the site where they are needed.
That should ensure both drugs would be absorbed at the same rate, making it easier to work out doses for patients. (ANI)
We’ve heard of other research showing cannabis can increase the efficacy of other pain-killing drugs, but this is especially good to read because of the added benefit of reducing dosage of highly-addictive morphine.
Oh, cannabis, is there anything you can’t do? 
This is good news for me. Well in a way it’s not news. I already know that cannabis reduces, at least mine, dependance on morphine. I was prescribed morphine by the VA about three 1/2 years ago to help combat pain from severe fibromyalgia. After being told at my last appointment that the only thing the VA can do for me is to up my daily dosage I decided to use cannabis on a regular basis. I’ve almost cut the morphine use in half by using edibles made from trim and fan leaves. I also use bud for “break-through” pain days.
With the recent encouraging news I can ALMOST see a faint light at the end of a 72 year tunnel. It’s also encouraging to see more and more people not afraid to speak out against the injustices perpepuated in the name of “keeping us safe”
I pray that more and more will speak out and continue to speak and to scream at the top ofour collective voice that enough is enough.
