Welcome to Hempday/Humpday on the stash. I often find music by searching for key words. Today, I stumbled on this amazing Khmer song by DENGUE FEVER, and although I do not know the meaning of the song title, “Sni Bong”, this song was so retro-70′s, classic psychedelic camp that I had to give it a post. Dengue Fever is an underground group out of LA. They sing music based on pre-Khmer 70′s era pop music. Thier lead singer is the beautiful Cambodian, Chhom Nimol and the video won me over. Nimol speaks little English and the band writes some songs in English and then translates them to Khmer. With a funky bass line, a bit of rock and roll, and even a Jethro Tull flute riff, this song is fun to listen to even with the language barrier. This track comes from thier 2005 sophomore album “Escape from Dragon House”. (you can see the video here)
