Here on Humpday/Hempday we get some very nice Americana music from……Scotland? The band, DROPKICK channels their inner alt country with today’s musical hit, “Freedom”. Think Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in Kilts! The music is sweet and easy with fantastic harmonies. They would sound great on any festival stage or in a smokey neighborhood bar. (Or a smokey neighborhood coffee shop after the end of prohibition). If they sound like they have been singing together a lifetime, note that the band is made up of Alastair Taylor on guitar and vocals and pedal steel and glockenspiel, brother Andrew Taylor on guitar, banjo, vocals, mandolin, drums and harmonica, cousin Stuart Low on bass and the fortuitously named but unrelated Roy W. Taylor on guitar and vocals. They have six albums and an EP out on their own ‘Taylored Records’ label.
