Happy Monday, Stashers! I hope the beginning of your work week is full of pleasant thoughts and general mirth and merriment and all that kind of nonsense.
I figured today, instead of some dreary old blues, I’d settle for some nice blues rock, and no one does that better than Mr. Elvin Bishop. Practically a legend in the blues world, Bishop has been playing since he was a teenager in the plains of Iowa. He has performed with blues legends B.B. King, George Thorogood, and Derek Trucks, and is hailed as a slide guitar master.
“The Blues Rolls On” features blues greats Warren Haynes and Kim Wilson. As always, you can learn more about Elvin Bishop by heading to his website or myspace page.
Also, I promise that someday I’ll find a blues song that doesn’t have the word “blues” in the title. Have a wonderful week!
[UPDATE from "Radical" Russ: I'd also like to note that many of you may remember Elvin Bishop was the singer composer of the hit "Fooled Around and Fell in Love". What you may not know is that one of Elvin's guests on the album, singer/harmonica-player John Németh, is a guy who came up through the Boise blues music scene as "Fat John" of "Fat John & the Three Slims" around the same time I was gigging. We played many a jam session together. Now he's a fast-rising star in the blues scene and currently based in San Francisco.]
