Music: Grinderswitch – “Higher Ground”

These guys have an unfortunate band name. They sound nothing like a Grinderswitch. Grinderswitch makes me think of a brooding, leatherclad death metal band, complete with a drummer with three bass pedals. These guys sound more like a Steely Dan type jam band if anything.
And according to their bio, they were originally formed in the 70s, so the classic/southern rock feel has its merits. They’ve toured with The Allman Bros Band, The Marshall tucker Band, The Charlie Daniels Band, Wet Willie and Lynyrd Skynrd. When Disco arrived the group eventually disbanded, but have recently reunited to play their old songs as well as new material. Good to see a band survive longer than Disco did!
As always, you can access their website for more information.
