’It’s a Rap’ on Friday and we bring you the great duo Potluck, who have soared to the upper echelons of the hip-hop scene with their infectious brand of rhyme. Re-igniting the scene, Potluck released a series of albums, now considered underground classics.
Potluck take the greatest high on earth, marijuana and combine it with production and lyric skill, to create ground breaking music. Combining west coast beats, clever samples, and witty rhymes, Potluck’s weed inspired song topics include everything from loves’ tribulations to neck-snapping battle raps.
The Potluck duo, 1 Ton and UnderRated, met at a DJ trial in 1995. UnderRated remembers “We were the two tightest DJ’s there, so it was natural we hooked up”. Currently, Potluck are about to hit the road for the huge ‘Bring Tha Noize Tour’, featuring The Kottonmouth Kings, beginning 25 February.
Now hitting the stores is Potluck’s highly anticipated new CD “Pipe Dreams” featuring counter-culture icons The Kottonmouth Kings. The group say it’s their “best CD yet, don’t miss it!”. Potluck’s musical chemistry and love of hip-hop shines through the new album, which has lyrical depth, rapid fire flows and head nodding beats.
