Pony Boy from Los Marijuanos at 2007 Hempfest
My dear Tam from Marijuana Music Awards is still working on the American version of the awards, so while she’s busy, I get to bring you more music from my personal collection.
Los Marijuanos, from Las Vegas, are the first weed-friendly hip-hoppers I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. They helped inaugurate our Portland Hempstalk festival (always weekend after Labor Day, come join us!) and appeared at three of our Million Marijuana Marches in Portland, Oregon.
Pony Boy leads the group, with FCM Click as the backing rappers. Pony has been featured in the movie “Get Pony Boy” and has rapped and produced on many albums including the Los Marijuanos records. He is also a die-hard activist and can be found at nearly every top-level marijuana party on the West Coast, including private parties at good friend Eddy Lepp’s gardens.
“Flame On” is a tune from their 2006 Hempfest release, “Something to Smoke to”. I particularly like the line about “the flame that killed John Wayne”.
