Rally for John Wilson 12/14/09
Somerville, NJ – Family and supporters of John Wilson demonstrated today in front of the Somerset County Courthouse as jury selection began in his trial.
About 50 volunteers held signs for over 5 hours and passing cars honked their support. The rally was organized by the Coalition for Medical Marijuana New Jersey and NORML New Jersey.
Without healthcare 36-year-old Wilson was using marijuana to help treat Multiple Sclerosis. John has also been enduring an overzealous prosecution on the part of the State Attorney General. He faces first-degree felony charges of ‘Operating a Drug Manufacturing Facility’ after a National Guard Helicopter spotted 17 cannabis plants growing outside his home.
Two state Senators have already appealed for a pardon in a case that has generated national outrage and national media attention. John has been barred by the trial judge from telling the jury that he has MS.
Does he clearly exhibit symptoms of MS? Are they going to put him in a box and wheel him around so the jury can’t see?
what if he takes the stand and his symptoms are evident ? Also I wonder how jury selection was going with all the protestors outside!
Okay, hold on… If this man was growing marijuana to use as treatment for his MS, and he’s now being prosecuted for growing marijuana, how can he get a fair trial if he’s not allowed to tell the jury he has MS? WTF? I am at a complete loss… How is this legal? How is this considered a fair trial?
Hopefully the judge will choak on his robes while being tased by police. Oh wait, that only happens to Marijuana Users.
