NORML’s Paul Armentano debates former Drug Czar Barry McCaffrey | The NORML Stash Blog

I am the producer of The NORML Network, the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog, and NORML's Outreach Coordinator. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" and I travel across the country to educate people on marijuana reform. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to give voice to the Marijuana Nation and to speak for those who can't speak up.

Only get. what? Maybe 2 mins. to rebut. Meanwhile, the General dominates the whole interview with the same old, tired LIES and rhetoric . Fair my ass! I do have to say. The way Paul closed that debate was, Perfect!

I was glad to see Mr. Armentano get the last word in this ridiculous argument against a pompous, blowhard, racist, paid-for-by-prison/industrial complex, big pharma, alchohol (tho he dissed tobacco) etc. industries ex-drug czar/goon squad leader. His old stale arguments about marijuana adding to the social/health costs are so pathetic as to be laughable. But it isn’t funny how long people like him have gotten away with these harmful lies. The only danger posed my cannabis/hemp is its illegality.

The DEA is spending countless millions of our tax dollars pulling up feral hemp patches and actual cannabis patches on both private and public lands. These growers wouldn’t be destroying our environment in public parks and national forests if it were legal to grow in an open field or garden. One of the greatest obstructions to legalization is the simple fact that the DEA would no longer be necessary, along with a great many other obsolete law enforcement, “treatment” and prison officials who make their living persecuting users of this safe alternative to alcohol, tobacco and literally thousands of pharmaceutical poisonous chemicals marketed to we the sheeple.

As soon as we all stand up and demand our right to legall access to the safest, most effective medicine on the planet – as well as the safest recreational relaxant – the facade of “dangerous marijuana” will drop; the preposterous propaganda will finally find its place: in the history book of bad jokes perpetrated on the American people and the world.

I truly think the biggest problem is the drug warriors and prohibitionists have never TRIED cannabis. When re-legalization is the rule of law across our country (and it will be eventually), so MANY folks will be exposed to the reality of what cannabis ACTUALLY does through visible and anecdotal evidence and they will be ashamed of the years of injustice done to their countrymen, country, and world at their hands. I’d like to say I’ll be laughing but how can I? Prohibition is evil, manipulative and epitomizes injustice. How could anyone feel joy when proven right at the terrible cost we paid and continue to pay?

It’s sad and pathetic that they have to keep on repackaging the same tired old arguments.”Gateway” for instance is now “precursor”
All of their arguments against recreational consumption amount to little more than a finger in the dike that holds back an ocean of HEMP
We arre all that stands between petroleum and hemp.

OMG… Teachers will toke up in school rooms and grab their firearms and start shooting up the children… Oh God, and what about the children… They will have nothing to go home to but their pot pipe pulling parents without jobs… Oh, the children… if they survive their pothead teachers and parents… what about all the drug impaired drivers … oh no! Muahahahahaha!

gee would they let our side talk at all, I hate this man, he never stops with more police more guns will win this war, BS!

You can see from this segment that the prohibitionists are out of gas. Their arguments seem increasingly lame. Even I could have beat Gen. McCaffrey in a debate. They put up straw men and then shoot them down. Their arguments have nothing to do with reality.

Whenever the prohibitionists talk about the dangers of pot, demand that they tell you of the name of one person who has died from its use. We know it can’t be done.

    * I meant the FOX guy wanted to debate Barry himself

Though they didn’t give Paul equal time, it seemed like the FOX guy wanted to debate him himself. I may just be biased, but even Barry’s ridiculous arguments just don’t hold their weight compared to all the reasons to legalize. He is just trying to argue against too many legalization points, and people are starting to get it.

Honestly when I see things like this it makes me think we have definitely won the arguement, the only question is time and how the federal government will react.

I SAW how they interrupted Paul’s statement … The media favored the law position EVEN THOUGH they thought they were being fair .. Sad.
