Obama’s Slippery Double-Speak on Medical Marijuana, Part II | The NORML Stash Blog

I am the producer of The NORML Network, the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog, and NORML's Outreach Coordinator. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" and I travel across the country to educate people on marijuana reform. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to give voice to the Marijuana Nation and to speak for those who can't speak up.

“…marijuana – and the reason is, because it’s against federal law. I can’t nullify congressional law,” Obama said.”
Huh? He’s run out of ink signing Executive Orders, and signed laws to arrest anyone anywhere and hold them longer than Stalin did. But now he’s citing federal law and the umm umm congressional law as the reasons he can’t really be the bearer of hope and change.

The president,, any US president, can over-ride almost any ‘Federal’ American Law with just a live pres conference or written press release.. Period, end of story.

Either way, even without a signing statement or letter of signing, or even a notice to insiders in the administration.. a simple press conference can shut down prohibition entirely.

Once the word is released, public pressure will take over like a snowball. As long as the president defends his policy and reenforces it when the questions fly.

His talk is all lies again this time, as 99% of us people already know.

Considering the amount of money he took from certain drug companies I’d say the American people have been sold out. Nice to see how many other laws he can igore but when it comes to weed he’s just another insane politician on a power trip. There were “other” issues that he was clearly promoting himself and grabbing all the power he could get away with like being able to kill an American citizen without a trial. That’s the one that exposed that power hungry POS to all of us. The MMJ thing is just an extension of his ego. I hope we get change we can live with next time.
