Officer To Plead Guilty To Marijuana Charges – Orlando News Story – WESH Orlando
A former Altamonte Springs [Florida] police officer who was arrested on charges of running marijuana-growing houses, and who police said was willing to use guns to protect them, intends to change his plea to guilty.Clay Adams and his wife Robyn were both arrested in July.
Federal agents said he was running sophisticated marijuana-growing houses. He even volunteered for the county’s drug squad so he could learn things that would help him avoid arrest.
Adams and his wife have said they’ll plead guilty next month in federal court for their involvement in the drug trade.
Whenever a police officer or federal agent is found to be involved in marijuana felonies, it ought to be a law that anybody he ever arrested on a similar or lesser marijuana charge should be set free.
The War on Marijuana provides far too much opportunity to corrupt law enforcement officers and needlessly subjects them to dangerous SWAT-like nighttime raids where they sometimes get shot. I don’t believe anybody should be locked up for marijuana, but I’m perfectly happy seeing police officers locked up for betraying the public trust.
