Hate to disappoint, but (no joke) I was walking my dog and I tripped on the sidewalk.
Seriously, and I was completely unmedicated at the time (maybe that was the problem). Messed up my toe and took a pretty hard landing. I’ve been at the doc-in-the-box getting examined (no break – just a sprain) and filling a pain med prescription that is making typing difficult and professional speech impossible. I’m going to call it a day.
Be back tomorrow – promise!

I am the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" for my work producing Oregon NORML's TV show, "A Cannabis Community Forum", and for helping to institute Portland's wildly successful medical marijuana cardholders meetings, where we help sick and disabled Oregonians acquire cannabis plant starts, learn gardening, and understand the medical marijuana law. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to be our daily voice.
Why not use herb? Well, I am. But the strains I prefer are more sativa – the mind high works fits me better than the body high. Herb’s never been a particularly good painkiller for me, but it does help to enhance the effect of narcotic painkillers (and, we’ve now seen some research in that area that backs my personal experience).
Weed to me isn’t so much a medicine as it is a way of life. Some people just have to have their Starbucks every morning to function. Some always stop by the pub for an after-work beer. Some must walk, run, or bike; some feel the need to bungee jump, skydive, or be choked, punched, and kicked in an octagonal cage.
Me? My life is better with weed than without it. I’ve lived both. That’s all the justification I require. No religion, though it does make me feel more connected with humans, animals, plants, earth, and cosmos. No medical need, though I’m less anxious, depressed, lethargic, and insomniac with herb. No permission required – this is my body and my mind and I will do with them as I please. You cannot demonstrate my herb smoking to be a direct, indirect, or potential harm to you in any way whatsoever, therefore it is none of your deity-damned business.
You can call it what you want, I just figure that if I’m walking through nature and find a flower and eat it and it makes me feel good, it is perfectly natural to do so. I figure a plant as useful to humanity as hemp evolved for a reason.
Anyway, I digress. I only needed the Vicodin to get the toe to stop throbbing enough to get to sleep. Not even taking any today – that pill bottle will go back up in the cabinet with all the barely-used rest of them. I don’t really like pharmaceuticals; they’re too rough on the plumbing, if ya get my drift…
man your neighborhood is tougher than I thought!!!!!Hope things get better. Let us know if you need anything….
Hey man!! Shit happens….Cannabis is the best medicine around to cure that hurt foot:)
I don’t smoke cannabis, but I’m jonesing for the Stash! ;)
Why not use the green instead?
