Now it’s two of ours vs. one of them as Law Enforcement Against Prohibition’s Neill Franklin and NORML’s Founder Keith Stroup go against (Non-Pharmaceutical, Non-Alcoholic, Non-Tobacco) Drug Free America’s Queen of Reefer Madness, Calvina Fay on CNN:
I wish Keith could have gotten through at the end there. When Calvina says that the drug gangs aren’t going to just become law-abiding businessmen, I’d absolutely agree! They surely will continue trying to traffic cocaine and heroin and humans and otherwise behaving badly. But the point is they won’t have marijuana profits to fund all that! Sure, they’ll still be criminals, but they won’t be wealthy criminals. There are always going to be criminals, but we shouldn’t turn them into the kind of criminals who can afford rocket launchers and six-figure bribes.
She sure gives it her all with her little catchphrases, though. “Crude marijuana”, “selling drugs to our children”, “fooled into thinking marijuana is medicine” and so forth. It’s so refreshing to see her claim that there really is no change in administration policy because the Bush Administration never went after the sick and dying, just the big bad drug dealers, and to have two people smacking her down, followed by the host showing poll numbers demonstrating rapid increase in support for legalization and super-majority support for medical marijuana.

While the pro side had her outnumbered 2 to 1, I’d be willing to wager that if someone took a stopwatch to it, she got nearly 2 to 1 with her long-winded lies. They’re running out of lies, so they have to eat up time to keep the truth from coming out.
I also think in these type of debates, the sources of funding of the ‘drug freedom’ and ‘partnerships for drug free blah blah blah’ should be questioned. Let the public know that Mothers against Drugs are Mrs. Liquor Lobby, Mrs. Big Pharma, Mrs. Tobacco, Mrs. Whoever the hell. NOT your mom or my mom.
But, all in all, nice interview.
When I do get my TV interviews, I swear I’m going to bring one of those huge clocks they use for the Olympic sprinters and run it when the prohibitionist is talking, then demand I get that much time in response.

This is the single most insulting thing someone can say to a medical marijuana user or their family! Just one big placaebo effect? She would quickly recognize how hurtful this remark is if it were her parent, her child, or her spouse who would benefit from medical marijuana. Unbelievable!

That “moderator” let Fay filibuster the entire end of that debate. She got the first word, and essentially the last. Well, I guess CNN doesn’t claim to be “fair and balanced”.
obody said the cartels would turn legit, they said by making bud legit it would create a vast legit industry that would take away the lure of black market bud selling along with the incredible profit that these criminal organizations are reaping from the sale of the black market bud. Common $en$e
