I am the producer of The NORML Network, the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog, and NORML's Outreach Coordinator. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" and I travel across the country to educate people on marijuana reform. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to give voice to the Marijuana Nation and to speak for those who can't speak up.

With the recent murders of 3 people connected to the consulate in Ciudad Juarez, this has been ALL OVER CNN. It has been driving me insane watching people dance around this elephant in the room. They will acknowledge that it’s America’s appetite for drugs that is driving the violence. They will acknowledge that SOMETHING has to change and what we are doing right now isn’t working. There were even specific accusations that the military approach to this problem is making things worse. But you can tell they are specifically guiding conversation around the idea of legalizing marijuana. And the funny thing is, outside of that there really isn’t any other answers being offered as a solution. You guys going to get Paul on CNN sometime soon? Since no one else on TV can see how marijuana legalization can remedy this issue we need to start making that part of the natural dialogue when discussing this serious issue.

When I was a kid (admittedly a long time ago) we used to study in school about how the evil USSR and other communist countries continually oppressed their citizens, and how our wonderfully free America was in such contast to life in those terrible places.

The American government is proving to be just as much a monster. Millions in prisons and thousands of lives wasted because our leaders continue to ignore the truth.

The government knows the truth. Big Pharma and the chemical companies know the truth, and an overwhelming majority of Americans know the truth.

I’m old enough to remember how American citizens stood up in the 60s and 70s to change things. Civil rights for minorities, women’s rights, and the insane war in Viet Nam were all issues we impacted, and we brought about true reform.

It’s time for American citizens to take our country back! Instead of spending our time staring obliviously at our TVs, living on a diet of “Dancing With The Stars” and “American Idol”, we should wake up and be Americans again!

There simply aren’t enough Paul Armentanos and Russ Belvilles to get the job done.

Wake up America! We can make our country a place to be worth living in and being proud of, but we can’t do it by assuming others will get the job done for us.

What will it take for us to stand up and say,”I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!”?
