Just waking up and downloading pics from my BlackBerry from last night’s Blazed & Confused concert. I’d be posting my 8-minute video with Miles from Slightly Stoopid here, except my PC and Adobe Premiere Pro keep crashing when I try to edit the hi-def mpeg. Apple is this close to having a new customer, with this close being the gap between my income and the cost of a kick-ass MacBook and Final Cut Pro. Let’s just say that Miles appreciated Oregon’s hospitality, courtesy of my man Smoke Dogg.
The pics are grainy, being these are from a cell phone camera in the dark, but I will have plenty more from the other still camera as soon as I go to Smoke Dogg’s place and get the SD card. And someday, my video. I also have the Miles interview on my audio recorder and I’ll be adding that to the Stash on Monday.
I will admit, having a pair of media passes on lanyards makes for a fun concert experience. The Snoop photo above was takes as I stood in front of the subs and inside the crowd-control fence separating the front row from the stage. Jr. made the rounds and got plenty of backstage photos and fun pics of foxy* girls who became very friendly after we mentioned we’re shooting them for NORML. My man Brian the Red used his pass to get back by the buses and help Stephen and Damien Marley enjoy a bit of Oregon hospitality. At the end of the night, I left the two passes with my homies Bobby B (creator of the strain “Sellwood Thunder”) and Pimpin Steve, who I will bet ten bucks managed to find a way to get on Snoop’s tour bus (Bobby’s a blind Vietnam Vet and Pimpin’s his caregiver, and those charming bastards know how to work it.)
Big thanks go out to Madeline Martinez from Oregon NORML for coordinating and the two fantastic Oregon NORML volunteers – Board Member Linda Mason and Brian the Red – for working the table. We sold posters, buttons, pins, and bud pictures and made over $120 and lots of change in donations in addition to enjoying four great bands for free (see, volunteering for NORML: the pay sucks, but the fringe benefits are awesome!)
Click any of the photos and you can see the rest of them in 1600×1200 size at my personal Picasaweb Photo Gallery (plenty of other photos there, too, and the rest of the concert shots should be up there by the end of the day.)
*Yes, “foxy”. I’m old school.

Dude – who is that creepy dude staring at me in that picture? He looks like he lost his soul.
Thanks, Tom!
Please accept my $4.20 donation today in hopes that it can help get you closer to a nice new Apple with all the goodies soon!
Keep up the great work!!
