I am the producer of The NORML Network, the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog, and NORML's Outreach Coordinator. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" and I travel across the country to educate people on marijuana reform. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to give voice to the Marijuana Nation and to speak for those who can't speak up.

If Michelle Alexander could get Michelle Obama to care about racism incarceration-she could call Michele Leonhart to stop selective prosecutions and racial profiling–also concentrate on CIA-Mafia ops in Heroin-cocaine-meth. Legal cannabis is mandatory Michelle World !

Wow! Even though I’m aware of this new Jim Crow the author was able to explain exactly how it came to be. She’s an amazing lady and hope this book will be helpful in exposing the “lie”. It’s sickening how we have been manipulated for so long. I’ll be buying her book.

Read the book “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness” by Michelle Alexander for an in-depth and highly researched work on this disparity in drug arrests. Historically, black Americans are arrested at a significantly higher rate than whites despite the fact that whites are more likely to use and sell drugs. Ms. Alexander states the case that the numerical variance has racial motivations and is discriminatory in nature.. She puts forth the case that this policy is for the purpose of social control of Blacks and Latinos, and creates a society with a caste system, where the lower caste of felons cannot find work, housing, and are further discriminated against. The author advocates the legalization of marijuana. She also discussed the reticence the African-American community has in addressing this new parallel to Jim Crow laws written during the time of the efforts to bring on the 18th amendment evoking alcohol prohibition.
