A demand for these drugs in the United States is what is helping to keep these cartels in business.

That’s right, so why not put an end to these violent cartels by allowing Americans to grow their own cannabis (coca, (opium?)). Well, let’s start with cannabis. The indigenous peoples of South America have used coca responsibly for centuries, perhaps millennia. It may not be beyond the ability of U.S. Americans to learn to use this, and other consciousness altering drugs, responsibly.

Ending the “drug war” would free up resources to help those who have problems related to drug use/abuse.

My hope is I wake from this nightmarish day and Norm Stamper is right that he is only coddling the prohibitionists so that he can strike when they aren’t expecting. (like maybe he thinks after he gets re-elected? I hope not. It might not happen.)

Currently the cartels are fighting amongst themselves for control, much the same as the Shia and Sunni in Iraq, until the Americans showed up.
They then banded together to fight a common enemy.

How long do you think it will be before the Mexican Cartels learn the same thing?

I can see no good coming of this.

I can’t believe it! I can’t believe Obama. slash5city hit it on the head. Obama, the Pawn. He’s going to LITERALLY let Bush, Cheney, Condi and the rest of the evil doers get away with MURDER. But screw me if I get caught tokin’ up. I’ve already got 2 strikes against me for simple possession. One more and I go to prison. And I never harmed anyone, let alone sanctioning the murder of others! I am so incredibly ticked off, that I’m finding it difficult to stay within the rules of this forum. The man that I helped put into the White House has stabbed me….US…. in the back……again! I can’t wait until Election day, November, 2011. Guess who I, a member of the “on line audience”, AM NOT going to vote for??? Peace & Pot!

I am so frustrated with our leaders and their moronic views with regard to marijuana.

Instead of letters asking leaders to support this bill or that bill, maybe we need everyone to write letters stating intent to disobey these laws no matter what. I refuse to obey this law letters. Could they ignor 25 million letters like that?
