House members this week are expected to vote on House Bill 5359, <http://capwiz.com/norml2/issues/alert/?alertid=12671316> which would allow for the state to license non-profit “compassion centers” to assist in the production and distribution of medical cannabis to qualified patients.
If you have not already done so, please contact your state House member today and urge him or her to vote “yes” on this important reform legislation. You can do so by going here.

On April 29, members of the Rhode Island Senate voted 35 to 2 in favor of similar legislation. We anticipate similar success in the House.
However, because Republican Gov. Don Carcieri is expected to oppose this legislation, and the legislature may eventually need to attempt to override his veto, every vote counts. Please take time to today to make sure your member of the House plans on voting ‘yes’ on HB 5359.
