One of the foundations of the metal revival of the past ten years, Austin TX’s The Sword have released two flawless slabs of vintage heaviness on Kemado Records, toured the world with Metallica, and were one of the first bands to lock into a whole new legion of fans through Guitar Hero.
Warp Riders is The Sword’s first concept album, a science fiction maelstrom put to the storming, relentless riffage and pounding rhythms upon which the band has staked its reputation. It’s also their most flat-out, supercharged, adrenaline-pumping work yet, a chrome-plated war machine that lords over the blackened sky.
Today’s Rockin’ Friday tune is “Tres Brujas”.
“Tres Brujas”, a Grooving Riff Heavy song, is proof that the Sword is a force in the Rock and Metal World and plans to stay for quite a long time. Slated as the second song on the CD, “Tres Brujas” helps guide your mood towards the ROCK, while introducing a epic-science fiction concept of Warp Riders. The Space and Western roots allow for the song to feel as if ZZ Top and Carl Sagan could be near.
So sit back and enjoy your “Inhaling deeply of the sacred smoke”. Horns up for the Sword’s “Tres Brujas”……
