Della Reese
For Roots Monday today, I have picked out a song from an American singer and actress, the great Della Reese. In her classic, “Games People Play”, she isn’t actually singing about Olympic games, but that is what I wanted to honor today. All of the different athletes, from all over the world, coming together in a peaceful competition, showcasing all the best in us instead of the worst. So here’s to the 2010 Winter Games, being held in beautiful and marijuana-friendly, Vancouver, Canada, and to all of the athletes that have competed. It takes so much to be a top Olympic athlete, but we can assume that taking the occasional toke doesn’t mean you can’t go on to win gold medals by the handful. Also, I know it wasn’t just me who thought that the Canadian design of the Olympic torch looks suspiciously like a giant joint.

For a special Olympic Treat, here is video of the spliff-o-riffic torch as it passed by Cannabis Culture’s Headquarters, and none other than Marc Emery leading a mini-protest. Thanks to Pot TV Network for the footage. Keep Marc Emery Free!
