Dear Friend:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the National Criminal Justice Act of 2009. I welcome your thoughts and comments.
On March 26, 2009, Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) introduced S. 714, the National Criminal Justice Act of 2009. This act would establish the National Criminal Justice Commission, which would undertake a comprehensive review of the criminal justice system. The Commission would focus on incarceration policies, prison violence, and prison administration. After examining the current system, the Commission would be required to submit a public report to Congress and the President.
S. 714 has been referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, on which I do not serve. Should this legislation come before the full Senate, you may be certain I will keep your views in mind.
I appreciate hearing from you, and I hope that you will not hesitate to keep in touch on any issue that is important to you.Sincerely,
Kay Bailey Hutchison
United States Senator

We can, We Will, We stand for our rights! :)
Typical…Rephrasing the question as though its some sort of answer…spineless
I’m so tired of politicians with their non-stances. Fuck you very much for keeping my views in mind, but I want to know what YOUR current thoughts and position are on this matter you equivocating fucktard.
If she runs for TX gov, we’re screwed on this issue. She’s as “by the book” as they come. Kinky Friedman recently announced he’s dropping out of the Gov race to pursue the seat of Ag Commissioner. That could be potentially good news for the industrial hemp movement, but if “ol Ironbox” makes Gov, it’ll probably be a while before we see Med MJ in TX, much less, full legalization. But, I hope I’m wrong. Stranger things have happened.
As a Texan, I can say with some confidence that Sen. Hutchison will probably oppose ANY legislation concerning the legalization or even the discussion of legalization of marijuana or other drugs. From what I understand, she is planning on giving up her seat soon in order to run for TX governor. Not sure how I feel about that. On one hand it opens a seat in the senate for a more progressive person, but on the other hand it means she will have veto power over any local state initiatives. Anyone from Waco NORML have any thoughts?
