I am the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" for my work producing Oregon NORML's TV show, "A Cannabis Community Forum", and for helping to institute Portland's wildly successful medical marijuana cardholders meetings, where we help sick and disabled Oregonians acquire cannabis plant starts, learn gardening, and understand the medical marijuana law. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to be our daily voice.
The very first thing you’ll see when after entering Oaksterdam U. is pictures of Families . So you say…………so what……… except the pictures are there for a purpose . These pictures show the Father’s that were once part of the family unit now seperated because of
” marijuana crimes “. Below the photos tell a story of why each one was incarcerated , their sentence & in detail tells how several of these men either have killed themselves or have been killed while in prison .
Their is now no Father .The family has been broken apart .
How can the Mother work when she takes care of her Children ?
Furthermore the Children are now worse off than ever before . For what purpose does incarceration serve for what otherwise is a victimless crime ? Cannabis helps rather than it hurts . SYet some of you will say ,
” well this man committed a crime & as a result of breaking the law he must pay for his crime ” …………
and some of you will say ” what about the man who committed murder then he too needs to be free ” . Murder is a crime and he must be prosecuted for his crime but , possessing a plant called Cannabis is not a crime .
This man did not commit a crime .
Rather the crime was committed against the man .
i felt myself completely represented by the brasilians on the event. :D
great panel and excelent forum.
guess it’s a long way for the decriminalisation of marijuana in the world….even worst around here, were the rich and powerful politicians prefers to gain some profit on drugs proihibition in south america. and continue controling the poor and black people – arresting and killing if necessary…
brasil can show a radically different drug politic right now. and point a new direction to the world in the figth against organised crime.

Nice show and moment. Here in Brazil we hope for more improvements and fast forward in our laws about Drugs. It´s a really shame for some of us, knowing the value of marijuana have (in lots of shapes: food, pharmaceutical, textile, fuel, civil constructions… the list goes on). We fight against a unstoppable machine moved only in interest of majors criminals with a lot of political influence. The legalization of marijuana could help instantly in reduction of violence, taking away the money of dealers.
William is a great warrior in marijuana legalization fight here in in Brazil. He make a good representation of a actual Brazilian reality and we thank for spread the word and help us to gain sight and experience of others countries and cultures.
Thanks for the show!
Nice! Good show!
So Allen mentioned that NORML was asked to advertise at the X-Games. You guys gonna do it?? I think that would be badass! :D
Great stash,
wow, I lived in Brasil for a year, 20 years ago, things were diffrent then, it was tolerated, but the USA forced their hand and in the 90s they started to really go after consumers. I remember my friends down there calling telling me how much things had changed, up till 96 I was in contact with 5 people and 2 had been arested for pot.
Now I talk to only one, but things are getting better, he did say they were arresting protesters or anyone in the reform movment, just for talking about it, but thats changing too.
Very good show Russ, wish I could have been there!
