As a Californian, I too was very disappointed to hear Rachel disparage the medical cannabis and other decriminalization measures that passed in this election. I'm extremely disappointed at how our state voted on Prop 8, nor am I pleased about the vote on Prop 5. But I'm totally with you - I find it appalling that Californians are more concerned about the rights of chickens than gay people. Aside from the millions of dollars that were pumped in from out of state, plus the appalling tactics that the Mormon church used to coerce their members to vote for Prop 8, I think there was too much complacency among Californians about Prop 8 which played a part in its passage. I didn't think that something this absurd could possibly pass here, but I'm astounded by the ignorance of the people of this state. Clearly, there is much work that still must be done. But we cannot work against each other, we must work together to reach our goals, whether they be achieving equality for all people, the end of prohibition, or taking back our government from the hands of evildoers. Our cause is a good and just one, based in freedom and justice for all and we'll all be stronger in our endeavors by standing up for all of our rights. In other words, united we stand, divided we fall. We can't afford to attack each other, we need to direct our efforts against those who deserve it - the thieves, criminals and human rights violators who would disparage, disadvantage and destroy all of us, if they had the chance!
