Thursday, April 17th, 2008
Today on the stash we get some classic reggae for all you stashers that are reggae fans. BARRINGTON LEVY brings us his classic toker-friendly tune, “Collie Weed” for today’s musical puff. Born in Jamaica, Barrington has been recording reggae music since the 1970’s. At the tender age of 14, Barrington was a popular performer in the large Jamaican dance halls. Barrington recorded music with reggae heavyweights, Roots Radics and through the years he has shared the stage with every big name in reggae. In 1996, after the death of Sublime’s Bradley Nowell, the remaining members of the band recorded several songs with Barrington. Levy was only involved in a handful of shows, but his contribution to their 1999 release “Right Back”, under the new moniker Long Beach Dub All Stars was considered the best of the album.
