My fellow toker, while it is important to consider the words we use, don’t let political correctness blind you from the richness of language we have to get our message across. There is a context for every description of cannabis and its users and used correctly they can better express our views to a broader audience. Let us butcher ol’ Bill Shakespeare and remember: “What’s in a name? That which we call cannabis – By any other name would toke as sweet.”

OAKLAND, Calif. — Oakland’s City Council last week approved a 1.8% tax on medicinal marijuana sold in the city. If voters pass the proposal in a July election, Oakland would become the nation’s first city to directly tax the drug. A city tax on medical marijuana could generate at least $400,000 and perhaps more than [...]

A new Time article entitled, “Drugs in Portugal: Did Decriminalization Work?” examines the practical theory of how decriminalization and use, when applied to a society properly, can have resounding success; and that is exactly what is being praised for the country of Portugal. First, let me explain the Portugal model and put it into perspective. [...]

Although a lot of work that has been done on cannabis, scientists have not identified every cannabinoid, so many research groups are continuing to identify and categorize the chemicals in cannabis. Samir Ross from the University of Mississippi led one such group in the discovery of nine new cannabinoids, and they published the structures and [...]
