This year’s large and enthusiastic crowd formed up at Broad and South holding up dozens of colorful signs and banners proclaiming “STOP Arresting Patients!” – “Tax Me Don’t Axe Me” – “Legalize” – “Obama = ‘I Inhaled.’” As the marchers assembled there was a cacophony of sound as cars, cabs and even the city SEPTA buses honked their support.

We marched in the drizzle and enjoyed it so much that we’re going to march again this Saturday, May 9.

Fifty people showed up in the light rain and we walked from 1st Ave. S at the foot of the Woodland Street Bridge, past the courthouse, down 2nd Ave, up Broadway to 5th Ave N. We crossed the street and marched back to the starting point. It took less than an hour and we got lots of support from passers-by.

So, unless it is pouring down rain, we’ll do it again at 12 noon.

There is plenty of free parking at the corner of First Avenue North and Woodland Street. And, if you’ve got a drum or percussion instrument, please bring it with you. See you Saturday!

We had 125+ on a beautiful day with many speakers and met a fellow NORML Daily-Audio Stasher BuffaloBill who drove two-hours from Mason City to represent with us in the capitol city. There was talk of the smell of freedom in the air from some sitting on the grass hill. I guess due to budget cuts no Iowa State Trooper was on site for the first time ever.

Under sunny skys & 8-10 mph winds, temp in the 50′s, 20-30 marijuana reform activists showed up to take part in our demo along Grandview Pky. and our march thru downtown. Spurred on by motorist’s hoots and horn-blowing, though our numbers were small, the enthusiasm was electric!! As usual, no media was present.

After our demo & march, we headed for the beach and had a wonderful time of food,fellowship,and sharing of the herb. Some new faces…new friends. Special thanks for the “special” cookies!!
